    Selecting Foods

What foods would you like to eat but rarely do because they cause problems (allergic reactions, gas, discomfort, etc.)?

Does it count if you eat foods BECAUSE they cause gas?

Bananas. Weirdest allergic reaction ever but I get horrible stomach cramps from them. Apparently it's the ripening agent they use to treat the bananas, so I can still at least eat organic bananas without a problem.

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and I am sneezing with a runny nose and watery eyes within 20 minutes. Worst I ever felt. Then I realized it happened every time I had the Ben & Jerrys, so now I just stay away.

Whichever the hottest sauce is at Buffalo Wild Wings. It doesn't just burn on the way in and on the way out, but it burns all the way through as well. But they taste so good...

I'd also say Hi Ho Mongolian Grill here in Davenport. It tastes so good, but I usually have the runs for a couple of days afterwards

I am allergic to avocado. I love a good homemade guacamole, but get hives on my face and neck if I eat more than a 1/2 a teaspoon.

That is freaking scary. Wonder what other chemicals cause issues.

    Re: Selecting Foods

I love fast food. In general, any fast food. It would not be uncommon to have it for 3 meals a day when they put a Wendy's right by the office. Quick Trip for breakfast, Wendy's real close, Burger King and McDonalds and extra block away, and having to drive by an Arbys and Hardees on the way home made it very easy.
I maintain that there are addictive additives in fast food because I just crave it a lot.
I was able to go from last January to this December without stopping to eat fast food (lost 75 pounds) and now limit myself to fast food once a week. Lets just say after being away from it that long, it doesn't set well with the old digestive system when I have it.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Could be the sodium. Do you like salt?

A little bit of Church's Chicken makes my stomach rumble. Then I have some 'clear the room' gas for the next couple of hours.

The Spice Thai restaurant in Ames will give you a digestive flush if needed..expensive as heck, but when you're boss pays it's all good...

well, at least until you find the restroom...

I went to a McDonald's in MN last summer and it was the first time I had been to one that had nutrional information on the food. I don't think I'll ever eat fast food by choice again. Since then, the only fast food I've had is Panda Express. I just cannot bring myself to eat something that, while it tastes really good, has 3 times my daily allowance of fat.
