    Senior Bowl Update

Defensive tackle Kentwan Balmer of North Carolina was the best defensive lineman during the North's practice on Monday, but he injured his hamstring and will not participate the remainder of the week. His replacement is Iowa State's Ahtyba Rubin, who is charging up draft boards and turned a lot of heads at last week's East West Shrine Game.

A couple draft pics might help this team for recruiting. How many would go anyway. Blythe, Rubin, ?.

I never realized how young Tuba is. He won't turn 22 until the end of July. I can see him to continue to improve a lot over the next couple of years.

    Re: Senior Bowl Update

Senior Bowl is this weekend, Saturday I believe.

Bowen is already climbing into the 3rd/4th round areas after last weeks' practices and big game he had. Blythe, I'm guessing will be a 6th rounder or so. I have no idea on Tuba. Athletic DLs with a motor are hard to come by. Maybe 5th round for him. No doubt in my mind that all 3 will get drafted.

Not so sure about Blythe. He has to prove a lot to NFL scouts after his subpar junior and senior seasons.

I don't think anyone has questioned his talent, his playmaking abilities, etc. WRs are only the final piece of an offensive play, with the WR stats relying on a QB to get him the ball at the right time in the right place and an OL that can give a QB the time to find his WRs.

I don't think Blythe has too much to worry about when it comes to actually getting drafted. You can't teach 6'5", 200 lb+ skills... you can teach better route running, which i think is his only true negative.

He's being projected anywhere from the 2nd to 6th rounds...I'm guessing he'll get drafted...

    Re: Senior Bowl Update

It's pretty easy to have subpar performances when you don't get the ball thrown to you as much. Now I don't know if they have statistics for drop balls but if he had a ton more drop balls then yeah maybe he had a subpar years. They just didn't look his way much the last couple years. He won't get double teamed as much in the NFL so he should be okay. His blocking may be a little suspect but coaches can teach him that too. I bet is he does get drafted.

Not that anyone would probably agree on thi s thread, but the Shrine Bowl announcers at last game Blythe played lst week were thowing the 2nd through the 5th round around for drafting Todd.

IMO: If Talib Aqib is the godsend of cornerback defenders, Todd may get drafted somewhere since Talib has not looked that good to me in his last five games and in his game against Todd. Talib has made some interceptions, but he has let people run free, he has fallen down, and he does not appear to be dependable. I know Kansas was super, but that was a team effort.
