    stadium rennovations

just curious if anyone out there know how things are coming on jts? got to be slowed down quite a bit by the recent snow storms i would think. saw the video from the 1st week of january and looks like they are coming along pretty good, just wondering if things are still on pace for the season opener.

    Re: stadium rennovations

I'm free today, so I might take my video camera by there and take some footage of all the construction. I worked for Weitz this past winter and summer, I should see if Ben Bruns would let me take a tour through there sometime this week.

    Re: stadium rennovations

i would think it would take an act of congress to get a tour through there right now, just way to many liabilities if someone were to get hurt. i can't wait till kickoff next year to see how everything looks. gonna have to make a drive down to ames when it warms up a little just to see how everything is coming along.

I can make a trip out today, since I need more excuses not to do my project for tomorrow. I'll see if I can have them up before dinner-ish time.

They are starting to put up beams up for the concession stands and restrooms the last I knew. I'll put up video later today.

    Re: stadium rennovations

I'm sure they are working. This is a deadline you really can't afford to miss. I don't see it going over too well, telling your New Skybox owners that they'll have to sit on the lawn for the first couple of games. The only thing that would screw them up is if it got too cold to pour concrete. I know with todays additives, they can get to a pretty low temp.

plus, they have ground heaters that run a warm liquid through a series of hoses that they can drape on top and around the forms after they pour, and cover all that up with concrete blankets. the hardest part of stuff like this in winter time is getting the ground temperature up enough so you can dig out forms and footings. construction in the winter time is no fun at all.

Nice work on the pictures. The work is looking good...this makes me even more anxious for next fall.

    Re: stadium rennovations

Thanks for the pics. Once they get the steel up and the roof on, they can just cover the things in plastic and scaffolding and start to lay block in relative comfort. Then things will really start to speed up. Bet they are wishing that it would stop being in single digits and below at night. Gotta be mighty cold there in the morning, especially since they don't get sun on that side until around noon if I had to guess.
