I myself just got back from 14 days in Florida and my wife emails this to me. I think I am gonna go to the doctor.

Yeah!! Stayed at a Residence Inn by Marriott over the weekend. The place with the kitchen and table settings. And real glasses.

    Ick.

Re: For the travelers out there

Okay, that is kind of gross, but I'll still use the glasses after a thorough rinsing.

This brought up a pet peeve of mine, germ scare in the U.S. Whatever happened to drinking out of a hose or having a cold and not going to a doctor?

Re: For the travelers out there

I stay in Hotels frequently. Or at least I did until I switched jobs in November. I have seen many different hotel exposes on various topics. When it all comes down to it, staying in a hotel is gross. You are sleeping in a bed 1000s of others have slept in. You are walking on carpet the 1000s of others have walked on. You have bathroom and, in some cases, kitchenettes. There is no way any of this is sanitary. It just isn't possible. Hotels may change the sheets daily but how often you think the bedcover is washed? And how about the carpet? I would never walk barefoot in a hotel room. Always pull that bed cover off. There isn't a way to beat all of it but you can reduce your exposure some. And, like pointed out above, never use the glasses. The plastic wrapped cups are the way to go.

I just try to not think of it. But I hate staying in hotels for that very reason.

That's why the first thing I always do when entering the room is fashion the kleenex boxes into shoes and shuffle into the bathroom to obsessively wash everything with the bar soap. Often while muttering "q-u-a-r-a-n-t-i-n-e" to myself.

I don't really disagree. But what grossed me out more than anthing was the chemicals being sprayed on the glasses.
