Re: Prospect: Rodney Williams Jr. Update

I'd love to get Rodney Williams, especially since I think Wesley will be gone after his junior year.

Don't get Jon Miller's comments get to you, I have a feeling that Wesley is pretty dedicated to this team. Just watch how much fun he looks to be having out there. I pray to all that is holy that I am right.

Re: Prospect: Rodney Williams Jr. Update

I don't doubt Wesley is dedicated to the team, and I thought that before Miller said anything. It's a different story when you have the chance to pick up a million large at the drop of a hat. That's like winning the lottery. If Wesley leaves early, it isn't because he wasn't loyal to his team. It's because he's doing the right thing for him and his family and there is nothing wrong with that.

Having guys go to the NBA is a good thing.

    Scout.com: Chris Babb Profile

This is the first time I have seen this kids name linked to ISU. Is he a real possibility?

Babb was originally committed to Alford and UNM, then reopened. I know KSU is looking at him too. I really don't think that's happening though.

Re: Prospect: Rodney Williams Jr. Update

Wesley is not ready for the NBA. He is a nice prospect but is definitely not elite status. At this point he would be fortunate to be drafted. He needs more work on his ball handling skills.

Wesley needs the four years to work on his game. Plus he had the ankle injury this year. This puts another question mark on his physical status. The NBA plays 82 games a year plus exhibitions and playoffs. Wesley needs to get stronger. As I said, nice prospect to keep an eye on. Definite pro potential. But he will do himself more good by staying in school.

Yep, and I think Wesley's smart enough to know this too

The scary thing about the draft is this: Wesley doesn't have to be NBA material to enter the draft. He just needs some agent to fill his head with the idea that he is a first rounder and get him to enter.

I agree he isn't ready. And that isn't a knock on Wesley. He is a great college basketball player. But so were Stinson, Blalock, and Fizer. Fizer had some success at the NBA level. All are now playing overseas or in the NBADL. I think it would be wise for Wesley to play at least one more year.

    Thread Jack over:

2009 could be William and White. 2008, we could still add someone. Pomlee or Babb has come up as a name. But taking another in 2008 would mean Haluska or someone needs to give their Scholarship. It also means that takes away a scholarship for the 2010 class that is shaping up to be huge. I think 2008 needs to be called full unless Pomlee wants to walk on.

In 2009, we can take 2, assuming Craig sticks around. That leaves 2 scholarships for 2010, one of which hopefully goes to Barnes. Not sure who else gets the other but there are some nice options.

I posted this in the evan anderson thread. Here is is again for your viewing pleasure.

Re: Prospect: Rodney Williams Jr. Update

I didn't say Wesley should come out this year. I think he could theoretically go out next year, and then Rodney could come in as a freshman in 2009 and help fill that void. That's the point I was making. They are similar players, very athletic and skilled on the perimeter. I wasn't trying to turn this into a wesley/nba thread, there's already one of those.

You have to be careful to believe what you read on scout. Their database is most often not updated. I would like to see us get that Babb kid if Appleton doesn't commit.

I think Rodney has an interest in us. Recently he had a Rivals update interview and stated that he really enjoyed his ISU visit.

Note: I am not stating his quote word for word from that premium article. No infractions please.
