    Football recruiting-size.

Interesting to see we only have 3 commits that weigh over 250 pounds.

Im excited to see who the 'suprises' we hopefully will get.

Just for comparison sake, Iowa has zero commits that weigh over 250 pounds. I am not too concerned. We only have 3 OL and no DT among our commits. And we have 3 more recruits that weigh 245, 248, and 250 pounds besides the three that weigh more than 250. The thing I like is that a lot of these recruits have some height as well as speed.

    Re: Football recruiting-size.

I think with the redshirts we have from last year and everyone that is returning ISU has plenty of size for a while the one thing they are lacking though is speed. Hopefully this recruiting class turns out to be a good one. ISU could definately use a couple of big suprises though before signing day.

    Re: Football recruiting-size.

We need an upgrade on talent, speed, and size PERIOD! I watched the Texas game from the ISU sidelines and boy were we completely out matched in all 3 areas! You don't even realize just how much either until you are less than 50 feet away from some of these players to see it for yourself.

I would rather have a college coach put weight on a kid than some crappy HS coaches.

Exactly, thats what i see him recruiting more then anything else is overall team speed.....i thought team speed was so apparent in the texas game and the KU game....

Thats why i'm putting my faith in our staff is they see the challenge.....they actually have to coach!!!!

They want athletes and they will mold them into players....that is where i think the biggest difference between Macs guys and Chiz guys....Mac would recruit 300 pounders for the OL and DL but they ran 5.0-5.3 and never really developed(except when we had Loney)....but Chiz is recruiting 240-280 lb guys that are athletes for those positions.....the guys hes recruiting are athletes and basing his future as the head coach that between him and his staff he can take these 2-3* ATHLETES and turn them into very good players....thats the key......Bring in the athlete and improve the fundamentals and schemes and make ball players out of them......

Were in good hands folks, yes we've had a bad run with recruits leaving but, as someone else said....We should be happy that these other very good BCS type programs are targeting the players we either have commitments from or are recruiting, that shows even if the star rating is not there, that our staff has a great judgement of quality players and put our trust in them that their simply not going after a guy because rivals or scout says he's good....they already know hes good!!!!!

To prove that look at DJ Grant....when we were recruiting him, he was a 3 star player not even in the texas top 100. As a senior he blew up and now hes a 4* recruit because texas and oklahoma were competing for his services. One other note on Texas.....Has anyone else noticed that they have 9 Dec. Grads that have already signed letters of intent???? Don't have to worry about losing them.....

Cant wait for Feb. 6th....see whos in and whos out....

With services like Scout & Rivals, I don't know how much any committ could be a surprise on signing day. My guess is that we'll all know about them prior. But, if we do get a couple of surprises, they will most likely not be the kind of kids we get too excited about.

I'm not saying they won't be a good fit or turn out to be good players, but I just see surprise recruits as those that weren't heavily recruited and therefore we won't be overly excited until we see how they pan out on the field.

    Re: Football recruiting-size.

Nebraska continues also to have slow times on recruiting after Bo P came back - they gained a recruit away from A&M and they lost one previous commit to Arizona State over the weekend. Life is exciting on the recruiting trail.

Pehaps a certain segment of recruits are checking their chances in Texas schools, and when not enthused with the options, sign with Northern schools as a backup plan.
