Going off a post in the "favorite movie" thread, I started thinking about which Star Wars movie I really don't like. I came to the conclusion that they're all good, however Episode I is the worst one in my opinon. Let the voting / geek debate begin!

Is there any question that Episode I was the worst? Eliminate young Anakin and Jar Jar and maybe it's a decent move...

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

Episode I sucked. II sucked but not as hard. III was alright. Take out the dialogue and "romance" and it would have been better.

Jedi could have been sooooo much better. Teddy bears taking out the best the Empire has to offer? Come on.

I still remember going to A New Hope. That's one of those things that I'll always remember.

I have to go w/ Empire being the best. The good guys always win....except this one.

Episode I. Way too "cartoony". Jar-Jar was a horrible character.

A HUGE gripe of mine are the stereotypes that were portrayed in the prequels.

Jar Jar was horrible. It seems like they veered way off when they created that character. You don't see anything like that in all of the other movies. The Ewoks were funny, but not horribly annoying like Jar Jar.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

Yeah, it was a combined effort of Jar-Jar and "Ani" that made that one the worst. The storyline and special effects still make it a good flick though.

Yeah, there really is no question that Ep I was the worst. Wonka, you might get a more mixed response had you asked what is the best Star Wars movie.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

Phantom Menace could have/should have been so much more. How cool would it have been to see some of the history between the Sith and Jedi? Actually show us -- don't tell us that "there are always two." I understand that Lucas wanted mystery, but why focus 80% of the movie on Naboo? Seriously. More Darth Maul, please.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

I've heard the "Christmas Special" was obscenely horrid.

I don't remember much of Episode 1, mostly because I spent the entire movie dreaming up creative and obscenely painful ways of killing Jar-Jar.

However, I have to say, for sheer crappiness, Episode 3 is easily the worst. I imagine if you could somehow manifest the concept of a "plot" for a movie into a physical form, Episode 3 would look something like swiss cheese. There were so many times when I went, "Wait, WHAT?" My favorite example:

Anakin: NO! I've had a brief dream sequence indicating my wife may at some future time die! I must do something, so I guess I'll trust the evil lord of the universe from a race steeped with thousands of years of tradition of lies, deceit, and betrayal. I must save my wife!

    (Five minutes later)

Anakin: You betrayed me! I must kill you now!

    (Five minutes later)

Anakin (as Vader): "Is Padme safe?" She's the most important thing to me, even though I JUST TRIED TO KILL HER!

Yoda: How could this have happened? I sensed Anakin was hurt and angry, but how did I miss the ENTIRE ARMY AND THE REST OF THE REPUBLIC PLOTTING TO WIPE OUT THE JEDI?

It could have been so much better. Take Episode 1, cut it in half (get rid of all the filler garbage), and merge it with the first half of Episode 2. Second movie: Start of the Clone Wars and *gasp* SHOW WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE CLONE WARS up to the middle of Episode 3. Avoid copping out and killing all the Jedi in 45 seconds and spend the third movie showing the creation of Vader and him hunting down the Jedi.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

I and II. If these had actually been the first two episodes made, there wouldn't have been any more. The "romance" sequences had to be some of the worst in the history of film.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

Episodes 1-3 were all hugely disappointing, IMO. So much potential, yet Lucas managed to botch it up. 1 would get my vote for sure though as the worst of the 3.

    Re: Worst Star Wars Movie

I can't stand how much they setup in the stupid prequels.

The Geonovians in Ep II talking about how their "ultimate weapon" must be protected was dumb

BY FAR the most pointless part of all of this is that Chewbacca and Yoda know each other....
