    Hi Def Toshiba TV

I bought a 42 inch High Def LCD Toshiba through Tiger Direct the other day. Based on some information I got on this site, I went with the 768 resolution instead of a pricier 1080. I really really like this t.v. The high Def channels are fantastic and it takes watching football to whole new level.

Before this I was using an old 19 inch JVC that I had bought in 1989. It's pretty cool to have a picture now that's bigger then your whole old t.v was.

The only downside is that the regular channels look kind of blah now. They're not bad, but it's like saying skiing Dubuque is as good as skiing Steamboat up in the Rocky Mountains.

Hey that's like going from a Schwinn to a Bugatti. Give it time you'll adjust. Mine's the 50" from Toshiba, no complaints here!

I got a 42" hdtv a few yrs, ago and had the same problem. If you are able to switch from sat. to cable to ota, there are indoor and outdoor antenae that will make your picture just as good as on satelite. I got an indoor at Best Buy for under $50 and it works great! I watched the playoffs ota in crystal clarity.

Also, if you have Directv, the rumors have it that they will be carrying our locals in hd soon, but I've been hearing that for some time.

Actually, if you got the 42" Regza it does show in 1080i, which is great because that is what broadcast are usually in. I don't know why they don't advertise that fact more.

Yes it is a Toshiba Regza. That's interesting. The specs only say 768 resolution. How's it able to show 1080i when it doesn't have that many pixels? It's got a great picture, I know that...

It downconverts the image to it's native resolution. 1080i vs 720p vs 1080p, it does not matter, they all look incredible.
