    Joe King

Things aren't looking good here folks.

Double-T Nation :: Texas Tech Monday Morning Notes - Joe King Commits Edition

LAJ's Don Williams is reporting that Joe King, a 6-7/310 offensive tackle from Putnam City North High School, Oklahoma should commit to Texas Tech later this week. The link isn't permanent, so make sure and visit the main page if it isn't there later this morning. King was impressed with Texas Tech and will hold off on his commitment for a couple of days:
"That's where I'm going to be,'' King said Sunday. "I'm taking the advice of my head coach. He told me to go down, come back and wait two days (before making a commitment). He's seen players that liked it, made their decision and then didn't like it. So I'm kind of doing what he asked me to do. But yeah, that's where I'm going to be.''
Snip "It was great,'' King said of his Tech visit. "I like everything about the university. I'm really impressed with the academics. My parents enjoyed the training, the coaching, the academics, everything about it. It's definitely something that me and my parents are excited about.''

That's not cool. Oh well if it is indeed true hopefully Coach Chizik has a couple aces up his sleeve. In a perfect world we would steel about 5 recruits from Notre Dame on signing day. In a perferct world though we'd be playing for the national title every year. haha

Now if some recruiting services would only take King's coachs' advice and take a couple days and wait before saying someone is committed to a school?!?

I have never seen this many kids commit to us. Then decommit to us. Normally they get here then flunk out. Now they don't get here. I hope he turns that tide on this stuff.

    Re: Joe King

The world opf recruiting is turning into the flavor of the day with all the text messaging

Nebraska had a recruit from Omaha Westside (Okufur the linebacker) who had committed a year previously reopen when Vally was fired. He laid 4 hats on a table from NE, IA, Stanford, and Kansas and then he put on the NE hat right at 3:00 for the evening news filming. I would make that kid run laps every day for his first year.

Speaking of past Clone recruits, PAllen Stinnett, aka Wayne fame, was just named Newcome of the MVC Year for the third time. He is the best Creighton player. Seems to me Creighton is not run and gun and a little bit more controlled offense.

Maybe they'll flunk out of other schools. Oh wait, there going to Texas and Kansas schools, they don't flunk anybody.

    Re: Joe King

Nebraka also gives out the highest grade points to their athletes. That is why they have so many All-Americans. They have more than 50. If you can't get a 3.00 at Nebraska as an athlete, where can you get it?

It is called the Bomarr Concept.

    Re: Joe King

Don't forget to add Russell Elllington to the list and there is probably at least one more that will happen. On a few of these kids I'm not sure they were really ever much of a committ.

    Re: Joe King

Decommiting is very common with a lot of schools.
Committing is a sort of "insurance policy" for the HS athletes to make sure they have a scholarship. Then if something "better" comes along, they can just take that.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.
