    Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

Going into the Baylor game with a 10-5 mark, it would seem that the 'Clones need at least eight, more likely ten wins (or more) in conference play to make the Big Dance. Yes, I know that includes the Big XII Tourney games, but what does anyone think? Can we rack up some quality wins?

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

I think 10+ wins might be a stretch for us this year.
I think 8-9 wins is reasonable.
And 6-7 wins a little more likely.

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

If we go 9-7 in conference with some good wins and win one or 2 in the tourney I think we have a solid shot.

EDIT: I would be THRILLED with this, but don't want to get my hopes up.

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

Of course, a road win at Baylor would be a great start. But the days when Johnny ruled Hilton with an iron fist are gone. Defending the home court, and snatching 1-2 more road games could be tough.

I think we need 10 wins minimum in conference play as well as a win or two in the conference tourney to even be considered.

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

The past two years it seems like you have to have 20+ wins anymore to make the NCAA. Even the NIT is tough now since the NCAA took it over.

When was the last time an ISU team exceeded expectations? Don't get your hopes up.

I dunno about "hopes", but winning at Colorado and Nebraska doesn't seem impossible. Any others?

18 wins won't even get us on the bubble.

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

We never win at Colorado. We beat Kansas at home more than we win at Colorado. I don't see this team getting more than 6 wins in conference.

Realistically, I think they will get 3-5.

Don't forget the win against ND doesn't count either because they are DII. In the NCAA's eyes, we are 9-6 right now.

Guess that means we better win all the home games to make the NIT.

if we win all the home games, that means we beat kansas, texas, kansas state, and texas a&m. if we can beat all 4 of them i would hope that we would be in the ncaa tournament discussion.

    Re: Pre-Conference NCAA Hopes?

    Looking back at last year.

Missouri was 6 games over .500, 18-12 overall, 7-9 in conference, didn't make the NIT.

K State was 11 games over .500, 22-11 overall regular season, 10-6 in conference, didn't make the NCAA.
