    TO tried to commit suicide

just reported on Mike and Mike. He tried to OD on pain medication. I have a feeling this story is going to get very strange as more comes out.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

According to Fort Worth station WFAA, TO made a suicide attempt last night. ESPN is still reporting this as an "allergic reaction to medication."

"According to a Dallas police report obtained by News 8, Dallas Cowboys star receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night. The report says Owens was depressed and reportedly took prescription pain pills. A woman companion states that she observed him putting two pills in his mouth. According to the police narrative, the woman said the prescription of 40 pills was filled on September 18 and—until Tuesday—Owens had taken only five pills. The police report said Owens was asked if he had taken the rest of the prescription; Owens said, "Yes.""

Just heard the same thing. 'Breaking News' on a few news/sports sites. Wonder what the 'official' story will be.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

If true, the guy needs some serious help. I don't like the guy but I would never want anything like this to happen to him.

It goes to show that money and fame don't always equal happiness.

Wow. ESPN.com is now reporting it as an attempted suicide:

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

    Well, isn't that nice...

I saw the report this morning when it was only an "allergic reaction" athough the suicide undertones were there.

Now that the story is developing further...this could be very ugly.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

I think you'd be hard pressed to find somebody who likes the guy, but I doubt anybody wants him to feel so terrible he doesn't want to live anymore.

I do feel the guy has been a pariah for the media and that most of it is stuff that he brought on himself. I always thought there was something a little off with the guy the way he constantly created trouble, but clearly the fella has some deeper issues. Hopefully he can work some of that out.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

I read on msn.com that he was depressed about his hand, and that he kept taking pills after a friend found him and told him to stop. I agree with Bryce - he's kind of a turd, but you don't want anyone to go through this kind of sadness.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

He held a press conference this afternoon in order to squash the suicide rumors and get the focus back on the team. Apologized to everyone for the mass chaos, thanked the paramedics/hospital that helped get him well again, etc, etc.

    Seemed very sincere and honest...

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

Did he admit to it being a suicide attempt, ISUFan, or just say it was an accident? I heard that there was going to be a press conference today, I just didn't know what time.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

He said it wasn't a suicide attempt , but an alergic reaction. He said he never took the 30 pills.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

Oh, that makes sense. I often accidentally take 35 pills in one sitting. It really just sneaks up on you.

Honestly, for once though, I'm just glad the guy didn't draw attention to himself for 8 weeks so Sportscenter leads off with a TO story every day.

Re: TO tried to commit suicide

No, he denied that it was a suicide attempted and that his stomach was pumped. He was not able to deny the report that he said "yes" to the question of "were you trying to harm yourself" as he was so incoherent from the drug combo he took.

He stated it was an adverse reaction to pain meds in combination with his supplements. Also, it is widely known that T.O. lives a drug free life, including smoking, alcohol, etc. I guess folks like that can be a bit more susceptible to a reaction to pain meds, especially with the health supplements that T.O. takes.

I know first hand from my knee surgery in January, those pain meds can really screw you up in a bad way. I was on Percocet originally after surgery – it made me hallucinate something nasty…no BS. A few times I asked my wife “why am I floating?” when I was lying on the couch. I had no sense of time, balance and did not respond quickly to others talking to me. Plus, it was very emotional. Then 2 days after surgery I became very, very sick. It was horrible. I stopped taking it and having the doctor to switching me to Vicodin.

I know a few people that have reacted in a similar way to Vicodin, which is what T.O. was on.

Agreed. I have been on pain pills in the past, and have never "forgotten" that I just took one. Especially if I just took one in the last three minutes.

Don't count your chickens yet... ;)

I can understand your reaction (everyone reacts so differently) - I've been on morphine and Percocet several times for cancer tx. Even on morphine, though, I would remember having just put something in my mouth - it takes a WHILE for that stuff to kick in, unless it's going intravenously.
