Swagger started when Chizik was hired. The players caught it last year and soon the fans will.

    Re: Somebody Sense Swagger?

Careful with the swagger. I remember swagger when Jim Meyer tied Syracruse in 57. It lasted for about 3 months when he left for T A&M. I remember swagger in the 70s with Majors and Bruce. Woody Hayes decked that kid and our swagger was gone for 20 years. Swagger is very dangerous in Cyclone Country. It seems to attract demons.

I feel great about being a Cyclone fan now. Our future is bright, we've had some milestone victories, and the fan morale is the best I've ever seen.

I am however going to wait a few seasons before toting my nuts around in a wheelbarrow.

I can't decide whether to sip the kool-aid, simply drink the kool-aid, or completely chug the kool-aid. I want to chug it!!!

That picture of Gene Chizik in your signature is why we can't use this passion on something else. This is not just being a fan and watching games on tv or showing up at the events, this is about love and dedication to an institution that has made many of us better people and set on our life's paths.

Being an Iowa State fan is not just about wearing the Cardinal and Gold, and yelling "Cyclone power." We are not used to perennial winning teams, so we NEED to invest that intensity and passion to the Cyclones. All I can say is that once Iowa State does turn into a power, LOOKOUT! There are many good reasons that I am the die-hard that I am today, but the main one is the sense of pride that I feel for my alma mater. And Jamie Pollard, I love you man!

    Re: Somebody Sense Swagger?

I remember the swagger when Seneca had us in the top 10. We all know how that turned out. I'm going to take the "wait until it happens" approach from now on. That is, until we win the North, until we play in a January bowl, until we crack the top 25 and stay there. I'm sick of getting my hopes way up, only to see the rug pulled out from underneath us.

"******, I hate" is an interesting way to start a sentence.

No I'm not. Based on what are you feeling a little swagger? Other than the typical fan optimism, I have no feeling of swagger for football and basketball. I've followed ISU for over 30 years and I've learned one thing. I'll feel the swagger when it is produced on the field and court. I've heard way too much talk over the years from coaches and athletic directors. I'll judge everything based on what I see, not the marketing BS at club luncheons or message board chatter.

You know, I used to have that attitude, but it's not a good thing. Sure, it will save you from getting your hopes up, but for all practical purposes, I missed the pure enjoyment of some of the best seasons because of that. A great example would be ISU's Elite Eight run......I kept telling myself that this would be the game where reality struck. Surely they wouldn't win the Big 12? Surely they would bow out in the second round? After the season, and for years since, I've felt like I missed out, like it was a dream. It's just not worth it.
