Do you ever get the feeling...

That people are complaining just to complain?

I can only think of a few reason why you would do this:
    1. You are naturally just a grumpy person
    2. You don't really like ISU but you like getting posters on this board upset
    3. You are a glass half empty kind of person
    4. You truly are disgusted with this coaching staff and would do anything to get a new one.
I don't know the breakdown of % of people that fall into these categories but maybe something like:
    1. 30%
    2. 20%
    3. 40%
    4. 10%

Re: Do you ever get the feeling...

We are a third of the way through this season and you cannot honestly tell me you are impressed with our team. We have put up a max of 23 points (Toledo) on our opponents during the four quarters of a game including a grand total of 12 points in the second half. Averaging four points during the second half the rest of the season is not going to cut it.

The D has been what most of us expected-young but they are starting to make plays when they have to.

I have put in for a pair of season tickets for the last several years and I am still waiting for us to take the "next step." I would consider myself a fan who bleeds cardinal and gold, and I have backed it up with my pocketbook, I have been very underwhelmed with our body of work so far in 2006. I am hopeful it will turnaround.

Re: Do you ever get the feeling...

Right now I just feel that there is too much bickering on this site. I would like to just read about stats, good things about the team, and occasional informative posts about what we could do better without the bashing of players, coachers, and whoever else. Noone is happy with the team..Including THE TEAM! We are not going to get rid of anyone soon so we just need to work with what we have for now and appreciate the fine moments. I am not saying we have to be happy with things as is, but they need our support rain or shine. I have watched ISU go up and down and with every frustrating thing they do, I love to watch them more and more every season. They are my team, always have been always will be. They have surprised us in the past with will definitely shock us in the future with great things.

Or perhaps maybe we expected better performance after 12 years?

Seems to be the excuse of the moment right now. Needed an office building - done. Needed grass turf - done. Needed a new press box - done. Needed an indoor practice facility - done. Needed an academic center on campus - Nearly complete. Still couldn't put a FG kicker on the field who could knock one through the uprights to send ISU to a conference championship game. Hmmm.... facilities or perhaps poor coaching decisions in all facets of the program?

Apparently 12 years is not sufficient time to build a winning football program. Seems to me we hold elections for president of the United States every 4 years. FDR managed to lead a nation to defeat Germany and Japan in under 5 years, but ISU can't manage to build a winning football program after 12.

You know, when you make threads talking about how you think there is too much grumpiness on the site, you bring out the grumps. Think before you post.

We are a third of the way through this season and you cannot honestly tell me you are impressed with our team.

I have to tell you, your same old arguement along with darts180 about the coaching staff is really getting old. You complain about how everyone has all these excuses but yet you respond to every post with the same response. Fire Mac, get rid of the coach, it is the coaches fault, etc. etc. If you know so much and obviously know what is best for the program and the direction that it needs to go why don't you give all of us inferior people the exact answer. Not just fire the coach bullcrap, what should be do Urbclone. I want names, assistants names, game plans, strategy, the whole works. Unless you are going to be the solution, quit *****ing about the problem.

I'm not impressed with the team thus far, but I'm not surprised, either. I figured we'd be 2-2 right now, but I also expect this to be the down point of the season. If this team starts firing on all cylinders, we're going to finish the season with style.

Re: Do you ever get the feeling...

No, I don't get that feeling.

I get the feeling that there are huge Cyclone fans on this board that live and breathe ISU, wear their heart on their sleeve, and choose to post frustrations on here because.... o yeah!...it's a message board. We're 2-2, not 4-0, and we haven't played great football all year. Praise AND criticisms deserve to be handed out to these players and coaches because we're fans who love this team and univerisity and have the luxury of being able to express our emotions on here because...o yeah!...it's a message board.

Here's an analogy, although not that good of one; I am a student here at ISU, and if I get an B+, which is a very good grade, I'm not satisfied, and I'm going to strive for better. How? Criticize myself, pointing out where I went wrong, try to figure out why I went wrong, and strive to improve. Posting frustrations, criticizing coaches/players, and suggesting things we need to improve on are what fans do when they see something they're not satisfied with. It's completely OK and I for one welcome it. The day we don't deserve to "complain" as some call it is the day we win a championship, and from what I've seen this season and in the past, we got a lot of work to do.

I should've learned by now that telling it like it is will get you called out. I respect the "ever positive and optimistic" attitude but don't always agree with it and won't subject myself to it. I prefer to be more realistc. And for the record, I'm a very happy person with a positive outlook on life and I STILL have HOPE that we can win 8-9 games this season. I'll be there Saturday cheering like there's no tomorrow.
