Seems a tad overboard considering he's in college. I'd be totally for it if he were still in high school.

Hilarious! We spent the afternoon passing around copies of the ad to coworkers.

Re: Mom Sells Son's Car After Finding Alcohol

Poor kid? Screw that. Parents buy their son a car and set ground rules. Two weeks into it he goes and breaks one of the rules. What should she have done? Gone all passive with a motherly tone and said, "son, it's okay, I know it's a difficult task to keep our only two rules, I know you need time to adjust to it, I'll let it slide this time..."? Hell no. How are you supposed to have children that respect you when you won't enforce your rules? She said no drinking. He drank. He lost the rights to the car his parents provided for him. I wish more parents were like her. Maybe we wouldn't have half the hellions running around with no respect for authority that we do now if parents actually parented their children...

This is actually pretty funny. Maybe I am off on this, but it sounds to me like she may have paid for the car. Do you think he actually believed her when she probably told him in the beginning that if he broke the rules she would sell the car.

You teach at Briar Cliff? You wouldn't happen to be in the market for a Theology Professor would you?

Sounds a little like a rant.... but I couldn't agree more.

Re: Mom Sells Son's Car After Finding Alcohol

I for one don't think its very responsible for the mom to print this, especially if she ever wanted her child to get a job in Des Moines. Not impressive to potential employers.

I agree with that. But at this point he wont be job searching for a few years and by that time this will have been forgotten. I dont think his name should have been used though. There is a point at which it is too much.

I agree. I applaud the parents for selling the car, but the public humiliation is way overboard. Selling the car would have been punishment enough. The ad borders on the sadistic and mean-spirited, in my opinion.

BvK, you've got to quit making so much sense because I "must spread some rep around" before giving more to you.
