    Do You Believe Roger Clemens....?

I do not, It is sad but with all the other pro sports figures that have been less than honest, it is hard for me to believe Roger Clemens. The money in pro-sports is so wacked that I believe that the temptation to get a edge, put up numbers for that next contract is to great for the majority to turn down.

Now with all the testing, it will be interesting if the numbers change....?

I don't believe him. Why would that trainer tell the truth about Andy Petite and then lie about Clemens? Makes no sense.

    An excellent observation, Cycloneworld.

He was breaking down till he found sudden recuperative powers and went on a career terror until 45 . This is a no brainer if you look at this record and his body. No brainer. Now he is trying to use that gained money to diffuse/agitate/fool /confuse/pretend the rest of America. I am not buying that brand of alcohol.

Several yankees had training help; several were very mature players. Hmmm.

Re: Do You Believe Roger Clemens....?

I remember listening to an interview by an old player before the scandal it was known in the industry that steroids were used by pitchers. They were mainly used to help them heal or to keep them healthy. Not so much for a performance benefit, but to keep their shoulders from falling off.

This player played in the sixties, so that shows you how far back this goes. Personally, if a doctor is prescribing them to heal or for preventative measures, I don't have a problem with it.

The problem with my own logic is where and how do you draw the line.

Nope. They are doing everything except given actual proof that he didn't A recorded conversation with his old triainer that not once said he lied and that Clemens is not guilty.

The guy needs to leave baseball.

Clemens is just a guilty as Barry Bonds. McNamee had nothing to gain by throwing Clemens name out there. In fact, my understanding is he could go to the federal prison if he lied.

I don't believe Clemens for a second, but what I believe and what can actually be proven is about as far apart as east is from west.

Very true. I have all the respect in the world of Petite now. He was man enough to stand up and say, Yes I did it and I'm sorry. I wish all athletes were like that.

Re: Do You Believe Roger Clemens....?

If Clemens would have just kept his mouth basically shut and not done 60 minutes, and a press conference where he played a taped conversation this would eventually have blown over.

I am not saying it was okay, but it was the STEROID ERA in baseball. He could have just answered the question once, saying "no I didn't do it," even if he did and just went on with life not commenting any more.

It even would have been better if he had admitted to it like Petite did.

As much as I respect Petite for coming forward and admitting it, I'm not necessarily buying the sincerity. To me it more has the tone of something Denis Leary once joked about - someone abusing some drugs, beating their children, then goes into rehab, comes out and says "Sorry - I ****** up!!!"

Not me...he got caught, admitted it, and then began the lying again by telling us he only did it one time.

Please don't insult my intelligence, Mr. Pettite.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
