Arizona women finish game with 2 on floor

They only had 6 players dressed and four of them fouled out over the course of the double overtime game as they blew a 16 point 2nd half lead and 6 point lead in overtime.

Man - inbounding the ball must have been a real pain in the ***.

They must have been good if they only had 6 players take them that far.

    Wow, thats amazing.

Re: Arizona women finish game with 2 on floor

I played in an intrumural game one time and we only started with 5 people, but we only had 2 foul out. We actually stayed pretty close for how horrible we were.

But I agree on the inbounding, I would like to see a video of this.

Wow just playing with 4 for the whole second overtime is crazy and to have a nice lead at that point as well is amazing. Hats off to those ladies playing in that game.

Seriously? I thought it was an automatic loss to not be able to place 5 players on he floor. Guess I was wrong.

That's unbelievable. I too didn't realize you could play with that few players.

You have to start with 5, but can play with 2. If you get down to 1, it's a forfeit.

i kinda thought that was the situation...I have NEVER witnessed that happened so I guess I just thought they would keep the last ones to foul out on the floor like they do in video games when that many foul out, lol.

Almost right. The game ends unless the head official determines there is a chance for the team to win with just 1 player. (if the team is ahead for example)

I've had a situation where a team fouled down to 4 players, and the other team wanted to pull a player too to "be fair". The NFHS rules actually call for a technical foul on the team that attempts to field less than 5 players when they have an eligible player on the bench. Not sure about college, but I'd guess the rule to be similar.

good stuff. I wonder if a team has ever sent too few players onto the court on accident before and received a technical. I've seen teams send on too many, but never too few. I have of course seen football games where too few were on the field, once I swear a team only had 9 on the field during a fg on defense. But that does warrant a flag of any kind in fb.
