    Gatorade Shower for the Coach

Does anyone else think this "celebration" has gotten more than a little tired? If I recall, it started with the Giants dousing Parcells back in the 80s. At this point, I believe this "tradition" has worn out its welcome. Does anyone still like to see this same old schtick nearly every game?

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Remember George Allen?? He was the great coach of the Rams and later the Redskins. I'm pretty sure he died because of pnemonia from getting doused with gatorade in subzero weather when he was in his 70's.

Mangino put a stop to the one he was about to get last night...with one of his assistants helping.

From what I remember, this was the case.

I did see that...it looked like he was going to blow a gasket if they actually followed through with it!

Nothing wrong with it. It is a tradition now. I was able to do it once in college when we clinched the conf title. A photographer happened to grab a picture and it looks pretty sweet. Do I think its overdone? Yes, but I don't think anything is wrong with it.

It was cool and funny the first two or three times back in 1984 or whatever. Not cool now. Stop doing it.

IMO, I think it's hilarious when the players miss the coach or just barely get them wet. I remember the Giants always had someone distract Parcells so he had no idea it was coming. They always seemed to get him really well.

Who cares if we think it is getting tired. If the players like to do it after a big victory, that is their call. I think it is funny watching old fat coaches try to outrun the jug.

In one of the bowl games, the head coach didn't get a bath but 2 or 3 of the assistant coaches did. That I thought was neat.

Re: Gatorade Shower for the Coach

The problem with trying to find something new to do is that there are just only so many ways players can celebrate and thank their coaches in public. Obviously it gets old but there's also not much else that can be done on the sidelines that wouldn't also get old. I'm just waiting until some day when it's so cold out that the Gatorade freezes and they plop a big frozen gatorade-cube on the coach's head

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I think it is about as tired as everyone rushing the field for every win at Jack Trice.

Oooops...did I bring that up again?

Why not try the old have someone kneel down behind them and someone else push him over backwards. "Congrats Coach" TRIP
