    Fast forward button in life

I wish I could fast foward to the 2009 basketball season. I think that is the breakout year for Gmac. We will have had buckely for a year, Brackins for 2 years, Staiger for 2, Mann will have a year under him. Boozer should be comming into his own. Diante will hopefully have about 20 pounds more on his frame. Hamilton will be a year better. Wes will be a Stud. I think that is the year for us. Next year we should compete pretty hard but I don't think we go over the top that year. Anyone agree.

You mean the 2009-2010 season? I could see that. The question is whether the fans will be patient enough for that.

I am. GMac is doing this the right way... recruiting 4-5 year players. If he was going after Juco's, I would want results this year and a big year next.

2009-2010 will be a good one, IF, everyone shows up, stays and studies.... lots of IF's there.

The fans will have to be patient. Pollard won't fire his guy after year next year with what they have comming back for 09.

GMac's past records were posted here or maybe on another website once. Year two at each school was always the worst year then it was a straight shot up. According to his past performance we could very well be in the Big Dance in March of 2009.

The question is with that lineup, will we be satisfied with a 20-10 record, 9-7 conf. record and a 9 seed in the NCAA?

I am fine with Baby steps. With the 2010 recruiting class that we could get baby step will turn in to leaps. Building it the right way is the way to go. I am not a guy with patience and will probably say fire Gmac 10 time before then. Even though I know it is a bad idea.

Clearly next year's results will dictate my expectations for the 09-10 season. If Brack and WJ show improvement next year, Diante puts on some muscle and continues to develop, and if Lucca and the 08 class are what they are hyped to be, then maybe 20-10 will be a disappointment in 09-10. That being said, a lot of things will have to go our way for me to be disappointed with 20-10.

I think we will do just as good next year (08-09).

Wait to 2009-10? Jeesh...whatever happened to the good 'ol "wait 'til next year" mantra...now we have to wait two years?!

The problem with all this wait until next year or the year after that talk is that the entire landscape of CBB is just too fluid to assume that all of this will play out exactly as you hope. Last year at this time on this board some were opining about how improved we would be next year (this year) once Taylor had a chance to really learn the system. Last summer we heard on this board how the Vette pick-up was going to help us out this year and then really start paying dividends next year. Those things really worked out...didn't they?

Hopefully, our coaching staff and players live more in the present than our fan base appears to. The problem with always pointing to next year (or the year after for that matter) is that you miss out on the present...and sometimes next year just doesn't work out according to the plan.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think the point is that we should improve significantly over the next couple years....some people are looking forward to that.

Your right. The thing I am going off is a projection of what could happen. Kind of like when you draft a guy with upside. I think our team has huge upside that year. Will it all work out. Will there be injuries. Will Wes Johnson and craig Brackens get suspended because they played in the Cap City league with a Europian professional player (lucca). I think if everything stays on course. We are going to be good to go. Oh yeah and if that happens wait till 6 years.
