    We almost had another chance

    According to the Detroit News:

    Jackson's rehiring secured McGuffie's commitment to U-M

    The Detroit News

Running back Sam McGuffie, one of Michigan's star football recruits, said Rich Rodriguez's decision to rehire assistant coach Fred Jackson secured McGuffie's commitment to the Wolverines.
McGuffie, participating in an internet chat hosted by the recruiting Web site rivals.com, was asked how much he wavered in his commitment to U-M after Lloyd Carr announced his retirement.

"A little bit," McGuffie is quoted as saying on the Web site. "It was mainly because I thought Coach Jackson was going to leave. But now I know he's staying and as long as he stays, I'm there."

McGuffie, a 6-foot, 190-pound running back from Cypress, Texas, is a fast, elusive running back who has been timed at 4.32 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

    DANGIT!!!!!!!!!!!Rodriguez was smart...

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

If he didn't go to U of M, I still doubt he would have came here.

Re: We almost had another chance

If he did not go to Michigan, there is only one other place he would go, A&M.

We were high on his list for a couple of weeks last summer, it could not last.

This is from someone in direct contact with the recruit himself via the aggie boards.
