    Re: Jordan Carstens

I haven't been in direct contact with him and his wife lately (I went to HS with them) but I think they have moved back to Iowa and he's helping out with the family farm again. Doesn't look like he'll be playing FB again from what I have read about his health issues. Its a sad deal because Jordan is one of the hardest working guys there is and worked his butt off just to get to where he got to and now it's out of his hands. Jordan's family farms a ton of land and has a big hog confinement operation so always something to do I bet.

From what I know though, he and his wife will be happy being back in Iowa though. They just had a daughter recently too I believe. Used to keep in touch with them more before they moved to Carolina and now I'm lucky if I hear anything.

    Re: Jordan Carstens

I heard from another source that he has played his last game of football. And they must be back in Iowa as I heard he went deer hunting this year. Don't know much about the kidney problem, but he could very well need dialysis or an eventual kidney the way it was told to me. Too bad as he was a pretty decent player.

He had a blood clot in his left lung that was believed to be caused by his kidney medication. He was expected to make a full recovery, was placed on the NFL non football related IR and was expected to return full speed next season. Thats the last i knew

It didn't sound that promising according to the guy that I talked to. It sounded like he had played his last game and wouldn't necessarily live a "normal" life. I asked him what he meant by normal? And he said he didn't know if that meant dialysis or what but that Jordan's situation just wasn't the type of situation that he is all better. Take it for what it is worth. This guy is a distant relative of Jordan's wife, I believe, like a cousin or something like that.

    Re: Jordan Carstens

Did he walk-on at ISU, or was he offered a scholarship coming in?

As one who has lived out of the state, I totally understand why he is so happy to be back in Iowa.

Carstens was a walk-on. Believe it or not, it has been said that he weighed 190 lbs coming into Iowa State. Guy earned (and ate and lifted) his way to a scholarship...

    Re: Jordan Carstens

It doesn't sound like he played at all this last year. It sounds like he was waived by Carolina on 7/29/07.

The fella I talked to said that he had seen Carstens play in the last game of his career against Minnesota. According to what I have read, Carstens played against Minnesota in 2006 and recorded two tackles in the only game he appeared in that year. When you consider that he went deer hunting in December, I think you can conclude that his career is over as football season is still going on.

I read on a blog by Ron Maly that Carstens owns around 4,500 acres near Bagley and has a lot of pigs. So that info seems to be pretty consistent.

Jordan was a walkon that built his body with DMac's S&C coach so the old S&C coach must have had a decent program availiable if anyone wanted to take advantage of it.

I remember watching the Coach Mac show in Jordan's senior year and they showed a picture from when he was a freshman, and another when he was a senior...

    The transformation was amazing.

I was an 8th grader when Carstens was a Sr at Panorama. That guy seriously lifted every weight in the weight room and worked harder than any person I have ever seen. People laughed at him when he wanted to walk-on at ISU but when he made it, everybody was so proud of him. I guarantee you that nobody will work harder than he did to make a dream come true.

    Re: Jordan Carstens

Jordan is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. We hung out quite a bit at ISU and talked several times while he was in Carolina. It's sad to hear about his illness. His wife is a very nice person as well.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”
