    YOUR Conference Power Rankings

I am just kind of wondering how people would base their conference ratings after watching the majority of the bowl games. This isn't necessarily based on wins, but on how a team performed against their opponent, how the conference as a whole improved from the OOC, etc...

    Anyways, here's mine:

SEC - clear number one. Two losses, one to Michigan and one to Missouri. Otherwise pretty dominating.

Big 12 - Texas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Okie State were special this year. Okie state was .500 because of their defense, and were pretty impressive this year.

Pac 10 - USC has been much improved, Oregon was phenomenal with Dixon, and Oregon State is underrated. Arizona State was pretty good until late season.

Big Ten - much better in the post-season than I (and many others) expected. 3 wins out of 7 games, but Michigan State lost to Boston College by less than a touch down, and Wisconsin to Tennessee by less than a TD. Considering the competition, it was a very strong showing, but not as many wins to show for it. The top 3 conferences can back up their showings with wins.

ACC - Clemson and Virginia Tech are the class of the conference. Outside of them, this conference was very weak this year. Florida State was a major disappointment, and Virginia couldn't do much in the second half of the season.

BigEast - WVU. Nobody outside of them was any good. South Florida was decent for a while, but they faded big time down the stretch.

Biggest positive surprise - the Big Ten. Call me a homer, that's OK. But going into the post-season, only PSU and Purdue were favored to win. MSU and Wisconsin nearly pulled off the upsets, but inferior talent and inexperience doomed them. Michigan defeated Florida, and PSU defeated TAMU which were good wins.

Biggest bust - the ACC. I don't care how "down" the conference is, when you have Miami, Florida State, Clemson, Boston College, and Virginia Tech, you should at least dominate in one of the games.

Total homer. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. Michigan got a nice upset but Illinois was completely destroyed (which you conveniently left out). I've seen some Big 10 homers...but you're getting close to taking the cake.

I ranked them 4th above the ACC and Big East - below the SEC, Big 12, and Pac 10.

Maybe you'd like to offer your opinions?

Really hard to rank it, as the bowl season isn't over yet.

The fact that you have the Big 10 listed as the biggest positive surprise is just insane. Had Illinois gotten a win...then maybe. But they weren't even remotely close - again - something you conveniently left out.

IMO the Big 10 is lucky to have 3 wins. The best team in the Big 10 just got DESTROYED by the best team in the Pac 10. Purdue barely beat Central Michigan. TAMU had a 14 point lead on Penn St. Michigan beating Florida is the only good win.

    Re: YOUR Conference Power Rankings

I agree with this ranking, except a possibility of flipping the ACC and Big Ten if tOSU flops in the NC game and VT wins big.

What would you put as a bigger positive SURPRISE?

I'm just asking, because I'm curious.

Ohio State (BT champ), hasn't played yet, and they play the SEC, so how could they have lost big to a Pac-10 team already?

This I could see. I guess if the ACC gets a big BCS win by VT and the Big Ten flops in both BCS games, it would probably switch them.

    Illinois>OSU

They may not have won the conference but IMO they are the best that conference has to offer.

    Re: YOUR Conference Power Rankings

I think this is pretty fair. The only bad thing that happened really was Indiana not meeting expectations....and I would venture to guess that with the way a healthy USC is playing they would destroy about 90% of the bowl teams this year.

    Re: YOUR Conference Power Rankings

I will be the bad guy here, but this is not a bad listing. I have been harse on SH the past few days since he deserved it. Putting the Big 11 4th had to be hard for any hawk fan. And having the Big 11 the biggest positve is a stretch.

For the most part this was well thought out.

SH when are you going to drop you allegiance to Iowa and come to the good side?
