    I LOVE HIGH DEF!!!!!!

I am watching Florida/Michigan on ABC HD and HOLY CRAP. My fiance and I watched the Tournament of Roses parade in HD this morning too, it was the best parade that I have ever seen!

HD rules all. Makes me wonder how in the world electronics makers will be able to improve on it. But they'll find a way, and it'll be interesting.

Smello-Vision. That will make the games at EIU interesting with all that Marlboro smoke, Aqua Velva and B.O.

well, at some point, you'll reach the limits of human vision. It was reached some time ago with colors. Your computer monitor is likely capable of displaying more colors than your eyes can perceive. It will be the same thing with resolution. Once you reach 20/20 visual acuity (which is a ways off still, at least for most consumer devices), resolution can't get any higher and still be perceptible to humans. I really do think we are about 2 decades away from reaching the limits of human perception in 2d video and sound. That, of course, leaves an advance in 3d open, but that might be a while coming.

Now the big thing is to get everything in HD, I hate watching Standard def content, I do not even own an SD tv anymore.

I have had HD for 2 years now and I have changed my veiwing habits. I pass on some of the shows I use to watch because they are not offered in HD and watch programs I would never watch because of HD.

Hah, no, but it angers me when big events are not in HD, I don't get it. Most people watching these things would have at least 1 HD tv by now.

Yeah, and the worst part of it is that when you have a big screen, SD looks so much worse because all the imperfections in the picture are amplified.

I also don't understand the HD craze. It's nice, but not essential.

Will that be a new term added to the dictionary for 2008?

I agree. It is similiar to the people who talk about the uniforms and colors, or "manscaping". This is not needed, just something to add to their metro lifestyle.

I have both, and while I obviously prefer to watch something in HD when available, the majority of the stuff I watch is still SD, and it doesn't bother me one bit.

Probably but not for long - doesn't all the signals go to HD in 2009? HD is not essential but it is hard to watch SD when you get used to HD.
