Also, quick talk from Fred. Nothing fancy, just the standard "Thanks to all of you for coming out to support out guys. I hope we can count on your support all season long" is all it takes for us to be all excited with that dreamy voice.

I personally think Friday night would be awesome. The people who want to attend this will be there no matter what day it happens. If you are more concerned about a High School Football game then I would consider you as not wanting to be there.

@TravisHines21: Official word this morning from Iowa State communications regarding the potential of midnight madness: There are no plans for it.

@TravisHines21: Interest in it from the program and, certainly, fans, so we'll see if that changes (in coming years). Been told it almost happened in '11.

You'd be surprised at the number of people who couldn't attend for that reason alone.

Need to do it next year at least, may not have time for the planning now. Georges deserves one. Doesn't have to be opening night, maybe we can get some TV exposure having it another night with nothing going on.

Good grief. Is Iowa the only state that plays Friday night high school football? Did Iowa suddenly become crazy like Texas HS football? I am fairly certain that there would be ample ISU fans available to attend on a Friday night. ISU needs to have an event like this to showcase their program to top recruits. These are fun events that show recruits how excited the fanbase is for the basketball program and can only benefit the program.

    Re: Possibly Midnight Madness?

I would like to see it tied into homecoming or parents weekend somehow. We used to have the bball preview a few hours after one of the afternoon football games. It was a really nice event with what seemed to be only moderate issues with traffic/parking. Does anyone remember how the attendance was when they were doing it that way? Was it primarily a cost issue/low attendance, or were there other reasons that they stopped doing it.

When did those events end? Curious to see what the state of the program and fan enthusiasm level was when these events got such low attendance.
