    Mangino in the press box?

Personally, I'm fine with him coaching from wherever he is most comfortable. Just wanted to get the fanatics view on Mangino's decision to coach from the press box.

Agree, better viewing angle and less distractions than down on the field.

I always like when the coach is on the sideline. IMO, its easier to explain stuff to the players and it shows respect to the players.

Yep, and with Sturdy on the sideline, it's a great situation for Sam. Mangino can sit wherever he wants I say!

Don't really agree with the bolded; being in the pressbox just allows the coordinator to use his skills in a different way. There is a better view from up there and he can undoubtedly watch the plays develop better and see what all 22 players on the field are doing in a play.

You feel the floor give you a little tingle, man, Iowa State junior point guard Monte Morris said in a private moment after the game, leaning against a wall in the bowels of Hilton Coliseum. You feel it. You feel it. Its real. You feel it on the court. Its a tough feeling to explain. Its a vibration. It gets you going.

    He paused.

    Its magic.

His intensity will be better conveyed from the sideline imo.

I just think that if the players are out there, the coaches can be, but the pressbox has many positives, most importantly the one you describe. Like others have said, in the end, I really dont care where he coaches from, as long as we are moving the ball.

That is all that matters. Mangino has likely proven his worth already and can choose to manage his staff and squad however he is most comfortable. If the offense is bought in, they won't care where he is. If the offense hasn't bought in, then trivial things like this may matter, but that's unlikely.

Re: Mangino in the press box?

Mangino can do what we want. All I know is Mess bounced around from the sideline to the press box and I would bet a lot of money that he will do his best ISU coaching from his couch this year.

Re: Mangino in the press box?

I prefer my OC in the box. If he's not then Sturdy or Blaney would have to be and I would prefer both of those guys around their positions.

Re: Mangino in the press box?

Just as long as he made the decision and not Rhoads. A couple coaches for each unit are always in the box anyway, so even if he was on the field he'd still probably have Blaney or Sturdy upstairs.
