Heading to Norman - any info?

Some buddies and I are heading down (well, some of us UP - they're coming from Austin) to Norman for the OU game in 3 weeks. Wondering if any of you have any suggestions on places to see/things to do/places to eat & drink while in Norman. Also, if anyone has any insight into tailgating conditions, please let me know. We've been to roughly 1/2 the big XII, and we've had trouble finding places to tailgate if you're not a donor.

Anyone else gonna be there? Maybe we can share some suds!

I went there back in '02 when we were ranked #9 in the country and got our as$ handed to us 49-3...it was miserable sitting there in the rain listened to "Boomer Sooner" on repeat.

However, the night before we went out in OKC and had a great time. You must go to Brick Town...it's about 6 bars all connected.

That 49-3 game was the game that the instant replay screwed us over on the onside kick and the recovery of that onside kick. Wait the OU vs. OU never mind.

Fedors Tips for Travel to Norman
Do not drink the water in Meskokie.
Do not wave the Clone flag when driving thru the reservation.
Do not eat the beans at Big Bubs in Norman.
Politely listen to the local jokes - that is how they communicate.
Do not stay overnight at LaShondras Chalet.
Do not gas up with the low ball gas at Bergies.
Don't call them F**** Hillbillies like Callahan did.
Do not mention Austin or Lincoln. Tell them you are from Iowa City.

Must have not planned far enough in advance, so here goes:

Those bean fried beef funnel cakes are explosive.

The Highway Patrol is always about five miles outside town waiting for the out of state people on Saturday.

Jack rabbits are twice as big as in Ames.

Prairie dogs are allowed to vote Republican.

Okie tornados are F-3 thru F-5. Not just dust devils.

Watch out for the Conestoga Cantaloupes and Wally's Special.

Re: Heading to Norman - any info?

Bump - Please keep the suggestions coming. Anyone have any recommendations for Norman itself? It seems like everyone stays in OKC and makes the short drive for the game.

Anybody else planning on going to Norman this year?
