Kane-Morris, Blalock-Stinson, JT-Nurse-Horton...in the college game having multiple pg/lead guards can really give you an advantage. I guess we have Custer, but physically that is a vulnerable backcourt.
If you are talking about the entire back court, you are forgetting Long and BDJ who are big and physical. If only PG's, then Morris and Custer are on the slight side. However, Niang will bring the ball down court on occasion, as well a initiate the offense in half-court.

I am expecting BDJ, Naz, and Thomas all to play in the off-guard/wing guard/shooting guard mold.

BDJ could probably play small forward if Fred decides to play small.

I'm confused as to what you are concerned about. Are you worried about Morris or Custer having to guard a Kane/Smart type of guard? That sort of physicality? Luckily we won't have to worry about too many of those types of players. Plus with BDJ and Houge's ability to guard multiple positions, Fred is going to have a bunch of options to work with.

The only team I see us having personnel issues with on paper would be Kentucky but I don't think there is a D1 team that wouldn't have a problem matching the depth they have.

It wouldn't take a Kane or Smart kind of guard for Custer to be outmatched physically imo. If a Hoiberg coached team faced a backcourt similar to MM and CC, they would be in trouble.

Thank goodness Izzo pursued Jabari Parker heavily

Agree, very similar style- great vison and passing, good scorer, good handle on the ball, plays defense. And I think he has the talent to play in the NBA just as long.

Really believe he will be in the "all time greatest Cyclones" discussions when he is gone.

I'm comfortable with Morris against any PG in the country. If last years incoming national FR class hadn't been so loaded, Morris would've gotten a lot more national pub.

not to take anything away from Freddie and Co but ISU was very fortunate that a couple key events happened to get Morris out of his home state.
True but it happens with recruiting quite often.

Which leads us right back to the big boys can't take everybody. (or evaluate them all correctly)

While BDJ isn't a PG, he can certainly bring the ball up the court and handle it in a pinch. If a team should be able to really cause Monte problems, you best believe Fred will try to make them pay by using BDJ to attack, and/ or Niang to facilitate from the wing to take pressure off Monte (We have other options besides Custer to facilitate). If a team can cause all of Monte, BDJ, and Niang problems - they are a very good defensive team.

    Bayless-Thigpen?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Transfers typically occur if a player isn't happy about their situation, don't get along with their coach, or take part in generally shaky behaviors, etc..

I don't see any of that happening with someone whose been given the keys to CFH's offense, and who's first post-game quotes after the UCONN game emphasized defense.

I think Monte will bring a whole new dimension to Fred's system. We all saw how much he grew during the season last year and how much it benefited the team. It will be awesome to have a pass first floor general paired with all the talented offensive players we have this year. Monte just seems to have that "it" factor.

Sounds like he (and the rest of the team) have been working really hard. I wonder if he has another breakout year if he stays to test the waters? I thought I read somewhere during his recruitment that he only wanted to stay in college 2 years.

What is meant by Izzo stealing Morris? How does that enter anyone's realm of concern?
