I like your scenario better than his insinuation that our D will be giving 6-8 yards a play away this year.

Taylor played for Tennesee his freshman year and saw the field alot, so not quite there buddy.

According to Tennesee's site and his bio when he signed with ISU, he played in one game against Georgia State making one tackle. So I guess technically he has taken a snap for a D1 football team against a 1-AA school, but I don't see anything to indicate he saw the field a lot, and he has never played against this level of competition.... so not quite.

Hopefully he is a stud, just pointing out that our depth lacks any experience at this point.

Excited about Seonbuchner, has there been any word on how he has looked so far?

I remember when everyone was worried about Knott and Klein starting too.

It's funny because so many people expect to be bad because of inexperience, and it's usually the same people that act guys don't improve over time.

I also remember last year when we were worried about Jevohn Miller starting against UNI.

Actually I don't remember many people worried about Klein and Knott at all, since they looked so damn good for freshman when they played, especially as the season progressed.

I guess I read it that with all of the jet offenses in the Big 12 you can rarely count on getting a situational substitution on 3rd and long.

I'm not worried--I don't worry about stuff I have no control over. I'm cautiously optimistic that DL isn't going to be as bad as many seem to think, and LB is more of a question mark at this point.

DL is in decent shape but we are 1-2 injuries away from being in not decent shape. DL has GOT to stay healthy. If Cousins or Jensen goes down look out.

Every year its talked about how talented our WR's are and they end up underperforming and the same time the DL is talked about being terrible and they end up not being total crap.

I disagree. Last year was a perfect example. I actually think though that our DL will be slightly improved over last year.

Agreed. A lot of wishful thinking going on in this thread. The sad thing is our standards are so low ... we get a few guys who just resemble D-1 linemen and it's reason for optimism.

I disagree with this statement. Only 10 of CPR's 27 wins have included forcing 4+ turnovers and only half of those exceeded 4. Also, I guess the last comment depends on what you consider a "big win". There have been several important games that were below 4 turnovers: 2 Iowa wins had 1 and 2 turnovers; 2 TTU wins including the first ever win in Lubbock; Rhoads' only bowl game win (over Minnesota) with 2 turnovers.

To support your conclusion 17 of ISU's 27 wins under Rhoads included 3 or more ISU takeaways. ISU has only beaten a hapless Western Illinois squad when forcing no turnovers, but has managed to beat 6 more teams when only forcing 1.

I agree that turnovers are important, but especially with a competent offense ISU can win without forcing an inordinate number of them.

Re: Camp Insider: Mitchell Meyers earns starting DE spot

On Dline depth, our DT depth is not good at all but our starters are pretty damn good. Better than some of our bowl game teams.

Our DE depth is outstanding and CM will be a standout this year. Both Mitchell and Taylor are average starters right now with a lot of upside. Pierson should hopefully be a very good pass rusher for us as well.

Above all we have great size, B12 size and for the most part Big 12 athleticism.
