Don't know any specifics, but from the coaches interviews it sounds like Morrissey was a monster again. Sounds like he's really playing well. Wally also seems to keep mentioning Mutcherson a lot too. He basically hinted that the starting safeties for NDSU will be Mutcherson and Cotton-Moya.

Sam Richarson on offense seems to have done enough to start. Sounded like Damien Lawry had a nice run and catch from what Rhoads said.

I don't know whole lot else.

I didn't get a lot from the coaching staff's postgame comments. CPR mentioned that Nealy and Wimberly didn't get much work so that the guys lower on the depth chart - Standard and Tyler Brown - got most of the snaps. That could partially account for the defense having a better day. In addition to settling on a QB, the staff will also soon be making decisions on which true freshmen might play this season.
Oh, and CPR is looking for Cole Nettens to be consistent from 40 yards on in or 57 yards on in. Randy Peterson is still sorting that out for us.

Chris, do you think Coach Rhoads seems a little more relaxed this season? I don't remember him cracking jokes in his interviews quite as often as he is this season.

I don't know if relaxed is the word I'd used but I do agree that his mood is a little better. Quiet confidence? I don't know...It has been a much more enjoyable camp to cover though, I will say that.

I wonder if it's been a little less stressful for Rhoads this year since he's basically handed Mangino the offense and kind of kept his hands off of it? With Mess, it seemed Rhoads had a lot more of a hands on approach with the offense.

But I have no idea.... just throwing that out there as a possibility.

Paul is a defense guy so having Mangino has to be calming for him. I think Mangino should announce the starting QB.
At this point the defense has probably seen every play the offense is going to run, and knows them just as well as the offense. The defense is eventually going to overtake the offense, its just natural.
.. just natural for ISU offense to not score TD's? Uh-oh.

Anyone SEE this scrimmage? How bad?

Randy Peterson is an idiot. That's that. His articles are unreadable. How he is employed by the states biggest paper is beyond me.

I was putting a lot of it on what he said about the team being so much healthier this year.

*would love it if just about every thread I opened lately didn't turn into a "bash Randy Peterson" thread, and actually talked about Cyclone athletics.

Yes, it was unreasonable. Of course he didn't think the kickers should be consistent inside 57 yards.

Yes Morrissey is a Monster. I also believe he has a little more left in the tank for when he gets to play the enemy.

I think CPR seems more relaxed in this interview than the preseason ones last year. Maybe I'm just wishfully thinking . . .

Either way, I'm itching for some Cyclone Football
