Re: New Schedule - Season Prediction Time!!!

I love the confidence of the OP, but I will be surprised if we go undefeated in the non-conference again. This is still college basketball, and upsets do happen. We still don't know how long Thomas or Nader will be suspended... maybe we lose a game to Alabama? Maybe Arkansas comes to Hilton and shocks us? I do think that we have a good enough team to go 12-0, but I'm just saying that things happen. It takes a little luck.

Have you ever watched Alabama play? They're awful! Don't even say there's a chance they'll beat us. Anthony Grant is one of the worst coaches in basketball!

20-0 is a legitimate possibility, and it would probably be a #1 ranking, as long as no one else was having that crazy run at the same time.

#1 ISU vs. #2 Kansas on Gameday would be OK, if you're into highly-charged big game atmospheres, and believe that Kansas must be destroyed.

I still think it's 5 losses overall, which is an excellent season, and then some kind of wild ride in the Tournament.

I'm not saying Alabama is any good, I'm just saying crazy things happen sometimes. Like a couple of years ago when TCU beat Kansas. Who saw that coming? It's not a given that we go 12-0 in the non-con. But since it's a prediction thread, I'll say we go 11-1 in the non-con (loss to Arizona State). In conference I'll say 12-6. Road losses to Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and either Baylor or West Virginia. Only home loss to Texas. That's 23-7 overall in the regular season.

Good gosh, now I have to clean off my keyboard. Talk about an atmosphere.

I think the only danger game in that non-con schedule is @Iowa. I get that they are the rival that people blindly see as inferior but that is by far the hardest non-con game ISU plays next year and it's not close. The rest of the non-con schedule should be double digit wins for ISU.

Kansas won't be #2 heading into that game. They are going to lose to Kentucky and then have another tough game against Top 10 Florida in the non-con.

I'm swimming in drool at the prospect. Probably be shaking with excitement by the time that game started.

i think mckay is a huge game changer for us. i think we won't be as lucky in the non conf this year. i think we'll have a better record in conference play than last year. 10-2 non conf, 13-5 conf. 4 seed or better in the tourney.

    11-1 in non-con with only loss @Iowa. 13-5 in Big 12 with losses vs. Kansas, @Kansas, @Texas, @Oklahoma and @K-State.

Were not losing to KU twice this year. Also, could lose at Iowa but don't really see it. We would have to play equally as bad as 2 years ago and I don't know if that happens again. That was a bit flukey.

I just don't "trust" Iowa's ability to beat teams with a pulse, so I expect to break their will down the stretch.

I see us splitting with Kansas in two hotly contested games that leave heart attack victims in their wake, but lose to someone like WVU/Texas Tech on the road in on of those games that makes fans scream "WHAT?"
Then somebody will post about the need to fire Fred, and the rest of us will snap out of it in order to flame that fool.

Georgia State without 3 rotation players is a trap game.

What was fluky about Iowa starting the second half with an 8-0 run and leading the rest of the game before winning by 9? It was the third loss in five games for ISU at the time so I wouldn't really see fluky as a good description. Iowa choking and losing last year @ISU was more fluky than ISU losing two years ago. Iowa is a good team this year and the game is @Iowa. It will be a very tough win if ISU can get it. By no means is it a gimme for Iowa; I just play the odds and pick most teams to lose on the road against good teams.

I am very interested to see Ga. State play ISU. They have some very good scorers on their team and will give ISU a battle if they can rebound at all. I still think ISU wins that going away but wouldn't be surprised if there are some pucker moments down the stretch that put people on edge.
