They kept that under wraps. Woody told a few coaches at SEP about the accident and said Richardson was in pretty bad shape. The SEP coach that I know told me he had a good amount of stitches and staples. I personally couldnt believe he was on the field against Iowa with those injuries.

That game was the biggest joke I watched last year. Mess should have been fired right after that game!
Lets start a badly injured QB instead of starting the back-up because he has no experience. Give me a break...Sam couldn't run and was a sitting duck for Iowa's defense!

Bigger joke than losing to an FCS team on your home field or giving up > 70 points to Baylor?

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

He also hurt the ankle, I believe on a hit b UNI.

Umm....about that. Rohach played behind "the same" oline? Uh, right--after most of the starters returned, and all played together the last few games.

And as far as Sam scramblng out of the pocket, what people are saying is exactly the same thing. It's a combination. Once he was pounded so much, DL were immediately breaking past the guards inside, he got in the bad habit of running early. He hadn't done that earlier--see KU and WVU. Now he has needed to relearn that response--and not only because his protection is better. Sounds as if he's done it.

Explanations aren't always as simple as some people want to make them.
Grant certainly hung in the pocket better and even stepped up. Grant needs to learn from Sam and Sam needs to learn from Grant.

I always enjoy the revisionist history on this site.

Among other things wrong with this comment, wasn't it posted recently that GR had his own groin injury early last season?

    YES!!!

I agree both of those were embarassing. Baylor was better than us at every position and they had everything clicking that game. We got out coached in the first quarter against UNI and it cost us the game.

The Iowa game was a complete joke..everything about it was horrible! The offensive game plan was probably the worst I have seen under CPR. Thats why Mess should have been fired on the spot!

So a groin injury vs. stitches and staples? (not to mention a twisted ankle)

Also curious what other things were wrong with my comment?

Not sure why the defense of Hines? I didn't agree with their logic. No he's not clueless but. Their podcast rubbed me the wrong way, both of them are the most negative toward this team on podcasts. You would think that ISU has 2 returning starters listening to them.
I agree. Listening to those two guys, you'd think that ISU would be lucky to win one game this season. I don't need blatant homerism, but good God, at least give ISU the benefit of the doubt.

Frankly I think Mangino liking a running QB is overrated. I think he sees it as a plus, but if he doesn't have a great runner still knows how to move the football.

Guess I would consider Reesing more of a scrambling QB than a running QB. He seemed to move around in the pocket and make plays, but I don't remember him tucking it and running a bunch.

You're pretty spot on. Reesing scrambled out of pocket more than he tucked the ball and ran. He only averaged about 150 yards/season rushing on about 7-8 carries/game. Mangino likes to minimize the contact his QB has to endure.

That's good to hear. I hope he can pull it off.
