Weak non-conference yes, but with 5 Freshmen and the fact that at least some, if not all are going to have to play some minutes, I can see why BF would do this. Have to build the confidence of the freshmen, and have to give the team a chance to gel.

-Be kind. That is something you will never regret. You will never say to yourself when you are old "I wish I was not good to that person".

I know. I do this every year about the schedule. Usually, mred and I have a pretty reasonable back and forth, but he doesn't look satisfied this time.

Agree with this. The newcomers need to be on the court as much as possible in the pre-season and a lot of mid-major type teams coming in will be good for their experience going into Big 12 play. Plus the fact that upper level teams don't especially want to come into Hilton unless it is a home and home contract.

I agree with points on both sides:

Pro-weak schedule: our conference schedule is usually brutal and you don't want to schedule yourself out of a postseason berth.

Anti-weak schedule: our fans deserve something interesting at home during the non-conference, and the weak schedule doesn't prepare us well for the conference season.

I generally don't care too much (I live out-of-state, so the home schedule doesn't matter to me too much), but I agree that we use the "freshman" excuse every season and I don't really buy it this year. We lost exactly one player of consequence from last year's team.

What's wrong with agreeing to a home-and-home? We did that a few years with Minnesota, which I liked. We should schedule a home-and-home with a high-major team opposite Iowa (play away the years we have Iowa at home and vice versa). It can't be that hard to find a team willing to do that.

It can't be. Just find one, maybe 2. Nothing crazy, just give the team a test in the non-conference season.

Our best home non-con opponent (by final 2014 RPI) is Fairfield. FAIRFIELD. They made the third round of the postseason WBI (not good enough for the WNIT) -- they had a thrilling 2-ot victory in the opening round vs. perennial powerhouse Bryant.

Re: 2014-15 WBB schedule is up

We probably could get UW-Green Bay to come to town but lately we have not been good enough to beat them. For a historical team I would love to see Tennessee come to town I think we could get 10-12000 actual people in the seats for that game if we piggy-backed it on the weekend with the men's game. I love double headers since I've got tickets to both.

We have gates??? I knew my donation went for something constructive. About the stoning that might be a little severe, maybe just tar and feathers. Somebody suggested Nebraska, Missouri, or Illinois, throw in Minnesota and I would be really happy for one or two of those teams each year. Playing Iowa and a much improved Drake team could be the highlight of the year for us. Stepford fans, really??? I was just stating that if your tickets were such a burden then do some youngster a favor and let them see are team in action. I think that is a good thing.

This is the downside to Hilton Magic. Might as well get used to it. When asked, BF always says he wants a few higher ranked opponents than we get, but for some reason they don't wanna come. Why blame someone for something they can't control? What a waste of time...

Re: 2014-15 WBB schedule is up

I usually don't get too concerned one way or another on the schedule. College sports are notorious for the challenging aspects of distance, timing, availability, desire, money and philosophy.

I don't know what to make of strength of schedule from 2013-14 vs where a team will end up. http://www.wbbstate.com/standings/14/sos

But next year we can't use inexperience as a reason to have whipped cream on power puff served on a cloud schedule. I live-out-of-state and make a few preseason games and they are usually more to see the team than a competition.

Maddie was critical relief for Hal. During the Big 12 season her loss was a big part of the struggles that team faced. Her improvement and ability to allow Hal to either rest or move freely was a big cog in our success.

Absolutely. I was optimistic after seeing Maddie's early devlopment. Shame her freshman season did not give her more time to grow and it hurt us when we lost her as a backup for Hal (especially with Jordan's slow rehab). This year we have more competition for Maddie's PT and I hope the best for her.

Have to agree. Been going to games for a long time and the non-con schedule is, generally speaking, year in and year out extremely weak and boring. In some years, because of 3 hour travel times each way, we miss all non-con home games and don't bother to attend until con schedule starts.

I really wish CBF would upgrade the non-con schedule. We can and should do better. JMO.
