May as well just shoot his kneecaps off and get an injury over with.
If we theoretically are blessed with playmakers, and we know that other guys can return kicks, have the other guys do it.

It's not playing scared. It's taking care of your people.

He'll split carries with Nealy, and possibly Standard. I have no problem putting him back there.

I hope not. I'm not 100% opposed to the idea, but I'd say he's more valuable to ISU on offense

I would love to see Nealy take some carries away from him anyway. Hopefully he's up for it.

Re: Camp Insider: Will Wimberly return kicks?

I don't know that I'd put Wimberly OR Nealy back there. Maybe spot duty a time or two a game, but not every kickoff. I'd go with Jarvis West and then someone a little bigger that can be a lead blocker like Standard or Mutcherson. Actually, I'd give someone like Tyler Brown or Damien Lawry a shot.

This, I am afraid we are going to have plenty of kick returns to go around.

If Bundrage does not play a lot better than he did in the spring game. He won't even be out there.

Re: Camp Insider: Will Wimberly return kicks?

Put me in the camp of those who want Wimberly to get more touches in space. If we're going to aim at limiting him to 15-18 touches per game, I'm fine with 2-3 of them as kickoff returns. He's one of our few that has serious wheels and is a true threat in the open field, so I'd like to see that used more.

Re: Camp Insider: Will Wimberly return kicks?

If Wimberly is indeed one of the top 3 options, let him do it. We've got depth at RB, and like the article said, the 3 candidates seem to WANT the position for once. Give it to those who want it! Wimberly takes a lick we've got 2 great options behind him to take carries plus a handful of freshman and RS freshman.

It really won't even matter who's running the ball if the blockers aren't blocking. If the O-Line is better this year, any one of our tailbacks is capable.

9 TDs last year dude. Pretty sure that's the first WR season with a pulse since the last guy had 9 in '05, he will definitely be "out there".

Re: Camp Insider: Will Wimberly return kicks?

Just as well get him a padded golf cart & driver to get him around campus too since he could possibly turn an ankle that way. It is part of the game and you need solid threats back there returning kicks to give your team the best chance of winning. IMO

"This is the most severe the talk has been since I've been here," said Thomas, who will be a junior. "If that was to be the case and I hope it's not -- whoever steps in, we can still do something special.
"If it happens that Fred were to leave and I hope he stays -- we will stick together. We're super-talented, no matter what. We can do something special next year."

Re: Camp Insider: Will Wimberly return kicks?

This would not be a good decision imo, he was banged up most of last season. Kickoff and punt return are dangerous, we don't need is our 174 lb starting running back out there taking additional hits.
