Rhoads has said the same thing. I am 100% in disagreement, not about having the uniforms but not knowing who is playing. Oregon, Boise, Baylor, West VA, etc have changed their unis a 1000 times and I can tell you if I ever turn on a game they are playing in, I can tell you which team they are 1000 times.

As if Earle would have turned down Ohio State if he was appreciated here more? That's hard to believe.

Not ever going to sell alcohol in Jack Trice Stadium under Pollard
-Alcohol is for the suites only
    Hilton in great shape
-Might expand seating? into concourse area someday (not high priority at all)
-Flooding was a good thing several years ago because they got to re-do everything down low
ISU Ran Earl Bruce off - he was only coach in ISU football history to have winning record
ISU NOT getting any money from Longhorn network to air Texas game
ISU NOT wearing Jack Trice throwbacks this year. Was a one-time only deal.

Flood of user questions coming up!

Great, so we don't need to worry about money ever again. I'll note that when I send in my Cy Club contribution next year...

My online KXNO wouldn't work - do we need to register or something now?

Dumb comment on alcohol sales. If 9 other Big 12 schools do it you know he'll do it, too. Never say never.

    Re: Pollard on KXNO

Lots of good questions and answers from Pollard. I appreciate that he doesn't bull**** you and takes the time to explain the thinking behind all of the decisions. You may not agree with every decision but you can at least understand where he's coming from. Lots of good stuff to take away from the interview.

I think the walkway over University Blvd. is a terrific idea and hope it happens in the next year or two. Pollard said that Hilton was in pretty good shape but they may look at expanding the concourse on two of the sides and also expanding Johnny's. The 33 new high-end doners are just since the UCONN game! It sounds like the center viewboard might be updated in a few years as well.

I'm bummed to hear the throwback jerseys were a one-time thing because I think they were fantastic. Pollard said that they were all auctioned off so they don't even have them any more. He clarified that he wasn't saying they'd never use them again, just that they won't wear them this season.

I'm sure we'll wear them before then, and now it's 9 years away but I think it would be fun to schedule Minnesota for 2023 and wear them that game since that'll be the hundredth anniversary of the game.

11 BCS games? That won't happen.

His comments were more like "not on my watch, if I can help it." He explained he could argue that he is already making money off alcohol sales with the new expansion - 3000 seats of club seating where you can buy alcohol. This allows for both higher revenue for the risk (high level donors sitting in those seats), but also allows for them to control the alcohol distribution throughout the stadium.

As Cyclone fans, we love the fact that we have a great, family friendly atmosphere. You lose that pretty quickly if you open the flood gates with beer sales. The argument could be made that season ticket renewals could actually drop if you allow beer sales, which could negatively affect the bottom line.

    Options are:

A: Tailgate hard enough that you don't need beer in the stadium.
B: Go out for beers at half time.
C: Do like the rest of us and bring a flask in.
    D: All of the above.

Edit: back to my first sentence - I think it's safe to say that if ISU is the last hold out on beer sales, Pollard would cave, thus the "if I can help it" comment.

That is a horribly tone-deaf idea, and no way Minnesota would ever agree to it.

Example A of why college football is not nearly as fun as college basketball.

ISU is the closest D! school to the UMN, tons of our alum living there and tons of MN transplants living in Iowa. Would draw fans like crazy, would make tons of money for both schools, yet not on the radar.

The faculty thought sports were getting too prominent. Faculty had a lot of power in 1978. A bit more $$$$ (which we could have afforded) and he would have stayed. Biggest mistake in ISU AD history.

Option B kills the atmosphere of the stadium. Option C will get you kicked out of the stadium, and both Options A and C sort of defeat the family atmosphere argument, don't they?

I don't think it's that tone-deaf of an idea. I understand Iowa State won't do it because that would be 11 bcs teams on our schedule, and Minnesota probably won't but I don't think it's a terrible idea.
