Re: ESPN's Big 12 blog picks Cyclones to go winless in league

I prefer the predictions I made in another thread any day over these ESPN clowns.

This. We have heard a lot of coach speech and are excited about all the changes, but in the end there is so much uncertainty that 2-10 could be just as realistic as 7-5. We don't know, the bloggers don't know, and quite frankly the coaches don't even know and won't really have a good idea until after the first 1-3 games. And even that may not be enough, injuries can happen at any point in the season and destroy any momentum we might/might not have built early on. Optimism is good, but these guys make a living trying to convince people they know what they are talking about. If you aren't an ISU fan, 2-10 doesn't sound to far off considering the previous 3-9 season and, on paper, everything we lost on defense. 95% of the readership would read 2-10 and think, "Meh....probably."

I can't promise we won't be last in the Big 12, but I think it's safe to say this team won't go 0-9 in the Big 12. I think we end up 2-7 in conference play, possibly 3-6.

Just beat the Bison and we can go from there.
I don't remember a lot of teams or seasons with their FCS game being such a must-win game. We're definitely right there.

Kinda feeling like 2004 all over again with the UNI opener. Feeling the same way going into this season.

Agree, but last year was so bad, and ISU won 2 conference games. To predict that ISU wont win any conference games this season is dumb. I'm not saying I'd be shocked if it happened, but no one should predict it will.

I respectfully disagree. If you follow the big twelve for a living you ought to know that Paul is good for one upset and a win over KU.

Re: ESPN's Big 12 blog picks Cyclones to go winless in league

This does feel like 2004, we handled UNI that day pretty well and went on to have a decent season. CPR is very good at circling the wagons. And these ESPN writers just got the attention of everyone associated with the program. Thank you ESPN.

IIRC we have dismantled KU the last 2 years, they have a terrible head coach and we are taking the only guy that didn't stink it up in Lawerence down there that just so happens to likely have an ax to grind in front of the KU faithful. My prediction is 52-10 ISU in that game and we throw deep for a TD in the last minute of the game to rub their faces in it.

Re: ESPN's Big 12 blog picks Cyclones to go winless in league

Why are there such high expectations for year 1 of Manginos offense? Offenses take time to implement and it takes more than just practice reps against a not highly thought of defense.

He was sitting there as a TE coach at Youngstown and picked Iowa State, how long has he been away from FBS football without any other job offer? 3, 4 maybe 5 years? The expectations here are becoming asinine.

Yup, since about 30 percent of Rhoads' Big XII wins have come against Kansas in his career.

Re: ESPN's Big 12 blog picks Cyclones to go winless in league

Why is this surprising? One of our wins last year, against WVU, was as lucky as you get plus we got beat by UNI. Fortunately, the Bizon this year are not anywhere as good as last year, and we get about a 95% improvement at OC. I'd be shocked if we only win 2 games this year. Of course, I'll be even more shocked if we win six games so I many not be a good judge.
