You learn a lot about wikipedia in a frat, so there's always that.

I hear from frat members that their **** doesn't stink, so there's an advantage to being in one.

Wikipedia is just for frats? Is that the joke?

I'm assuming this is in reference to the intelligence level of fraternity members, but off the top of my head of the guys I lived in a fraternity with there is two attorneys, a doctor, a scientist for Pioneer, two CPAs, a police officer, an engineer, and a teacher.

Whenever you have a large sample size you're bound to get a few people that have a certain sense of entitlement. Anybody involved in Greek life would be foolish to say that there aren't people like this. However, it sounds like you've spoken to and interacted with a very small portion of the ISU or larger Greek community. Some of the best student leaders, students, service leaders, etc. I have ever met have been a part of the Greek system. Not saying there aren't great students outside Greek life, just showing that there's a large amount of people that have flourished in Greek life.

Just to add, my house has test files and I have never seen anybody use them.

I would agree with this statement. You can come from Greek life and be successful. However, it doesn't guarantee success, which is how, from my experiences, Greeks feel.

    Re: Frat vs. Dorms

Now this is more like what I expected a Greek life discussion on CyFan to be like...

You feel the floor give you a little tingle, man, Iowa State junior point guard Monte Morris said in a private moment after the game, leaning against a wall in the bowels of Hilton Coliseum. You feel it. You feel it. Its real. You feel it on the court. Its a tough feeling to explain. Its a vibration. It gets you going.

    He paused.

    Its magic.

    Re: Frat vs. Dorms

I was also in a fraternity. I really enjoyed it. The 50+ guys made it easier to adapt to college life. There wasn't any real hazing in our fraternity. Shouldn't have to put up with it.

I thought it provided a great way of getting involved and also we had teams for about every intramural sport. Would not trade the experience for the dorms.

    Re: Frat vs. Dorms

I think we need to know a little bit more about your son in order to give valid recommendations. I suggest you have him complete this questionnaire and share the results so we can offer better advice...

    1) Tanning in January: yea, or nay?

    2) On a scale of 1-10, how much do you enjoy the near-constant company of other men?

    3) In the past three months, have you listened to Imagine Dragons and enjoyed it?

    4) How many bottles of Axe body spray do you possess?

    5) You're wearing pastel green shorts. Do you complete the ensemble with:
    a. Boat shoes
    b. Neon yellow wayferer sunglasses
    c. Both a and b.
    d. A long, hard think about the direction of your life
