    Re: Shots fired at Scherff

Comparing a college kid's twitter account to formal interviews at conference media days??? Makes sense.

I can also picture the guy from the Gazette talking to those other players: "Ermehgherd did you see Scherff doing hang cleans with 443 pounds? How can you compete with a guy like that? Tell me that's not incredible! What are your thoughts on a video of somebody lifting weights?!? Totally awesome, right? Freakin' sweet, Hawks are gonna be so good this year..."

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

What's crazy is that Rich Froning is half Scherff's size (180lbs) and can Clean and Jerk 380.

    http://thegazette.com/subject/sports...lifts-20140728

Wisconsin tackle Rob Havenstein, who like Scherff was tabbed the BTN preseason all-Big Ten team, was amazed with Scherff’s strength.“I think the video kind of speaks for itself. It’s impressive,” Havenstein said. “He’s obviously a very strong dude, and he’s going to be one of the top picks next year. Hands down he’s one of best tackles in college football, if not the best.”

Wisconsin defensive lineman Warren Herring kind of laughed when he heard about Scherff’s lifts saying, “I’m still trying to get there myself.” “That’s amazing. That’s strength there,” Herring said. “That’s what Iowa’s program is built off of, they’ve built off of being tough and strong, and that’s what he is.”

Illinois defensive lineman Austin Teitsma stopped a reporter in mid-sentence when Scherff’s name was mentioned. “About his power clean? I think everybody’s seen that,” Teitsma said. “Awesome. That’s a strong man. It’s great.”

The players also have great admiration for Scherff’s game on the field as well.

“Man, physical. Very physical,” Herring said. “Great athlete. Very talented. That strong. It’s a physical team. Whenever you play that game, expect some bumps and bruises after the game.”

“Honestly me watching his film is only going to make me better by trying emulate the things he does, kind of how he works and how he plays,” Havenstein said. “To me he is one of the top tackles in this class, for sure.”

Keep in mind Havenstein is the other LT in college football who is being touted as highly as Scherff. Makes you wonder what the ISU players are thinking. It's disrespectful coming from anyone, but when you take into consideration the comments are coming from players on a team that was god awful last year it's just flat out embarrassing. I'm not saying they need to bow down and worship the guy, but publically making disparaging comments about another player who has clearly worked his butt off to be in the position he is in is pathetic. If you can't show some respect then at least keep your comments between each other. No need to take them public and make yourself look foolish.
Wow that's a pretty horrible comparison

Not sure how you'd do it, but somehow you need more slobber/drool in that quote to be completely accurate.

How long before Scherff and the rest of the team come down with Rhabdo due to the supplements provided by the strength staff? Again.

Anyone notice Oni block about 4 Hawks on that game-winning FG?

    Good lift Scherff.

How'd CMO do Saturday against this top 5 Draft Pick that will likely have to move to guard?
