This isn't trolling. You know it, I know it, we all know it. The defense is going to get torn to shreds, especially in the run game. You literally have a lower level FCS defensive line.

That's a fascinating argument. I generally attribute a loss to one team being better than the other. But it's good to know that a loss just means that you don't give a **** about that particular game. Thanks for clearing that up.

Iowa only plays Wisconsin and Nebraska this year of the teams you mentioned. Really weak schedule. Should be 10 wins minimum. Of course, it is years like this when Captain Kirk's teams underachieve. Linebackers could be a real concern. And secondary is a concern as well. Good Defensive and Offensive Lines. And we will have to see how good the FG kicker is. You never know till you play the games.

Just the biggest game for you.

You could certainly be right about ISUs record this season but that's not really what this thread is for. Please feel free to start a thread about it in the In State Rivals forum.

Mods, would you mind moving this to In State Rivals, please? I'd rather go there to be reminded that I should be terrified of Brandon Scherff.

    TIA

It appears that reading comprehension isn't a strong skill you posses. Nobody said "they don't give a **** about that particular game", what was said is that Iowa hardly treats it as their biggest game of the year.

A better indicator of someone treating it like the biggest game of the year would be that they play far above their record and normal ability relative to how the entire season goes. In the case of Iowa vs. Iowa State, historical clarity shows that Iowa State plays above their ability and record comparatively against Iowa, while Iowa plays under their norm relative to their ability and record.

It means that Iowa State gets really excited to play Iowa and performs above what they usually do, and Iowa lacks excitement and motivation and performs below what they usually do. Pretty simple to see which team treats it more closely to "the biggest game of the year".

Again, really cool story. But one that you should expound on in your own thread, elsewhere.

Why is there a Texas fan talking about other teams not playing to their abilities? I guess he would be an expert on the situation.

Not sure you are serious. Iowa plays a weak schedule in a weak conference. Your explanation is complete nonsense.

And...none of their home games are sold out yet this season. Barta's talking about changing the music played in the stadium. Yeah, that would make the difference.

This has to be a Hawkeye fan. There's no other way around it. Same Hawkeye logic, when again, facts show that in the last 20 years, only once was the winner of the game definitively the lesser team between the two by season's end.

Name one year where this whole "biggest game of the year" theory actually happened, especially when you factor in SOS. You can't. Just another hokeye excuse for losing to a team that they perceive themselves to be better than. The closest to this argument is 2002. And ISU won because of matchups. Iowa's one weak spot was their secondary. Pretty much two teams on their schedule had the passing game to make iowa pay for that weakness...ISU and Miami OH with Rothlesberger. Both games were close. And USC was just better in EVERY aspect. For every 2007, I'll give you 2012 and 2011 where ISU should have won by more, but penalties and turnovers kept the game closer than it should have been. I wouldn't say that ISU was playing "above their ability" there. In reality, iowa is never as good as their fans think they are largely due to schedule.

Teams only play 12-13 games a year. You'd think that they would be able to "get up" for all of them.
