Re: Bridget Carleton Named To Canada’s Junior National Team

Remember we recruited Emily Potter? She was on Canada's Junior Team last year. As a Freshmen this past season she did well at Utah http://www.utahutes.com/sports/w-bas...er_855811.html in the tough Pac 12.

Carleton is better at her position than Potter, and may be one of the top 2-3 players overall in Canada for her age group. Any ranking info Bridget? Its all good.

Just a subtle reminder in there that hockey is king in Canada. They talk about her having the opportunity to again put on the "Team Canada sweater".

Sorry. I missing something in your post. What is your point?

Wonder how the subbing took place. Everyone on the team had double digit minutes.

I watched some of the game - Bridget started but got two early fouls. By the time she went back in the game was a blowout. Guessing she would have played more minutes if the game had been competitive.

Generally only in hockey do they refer to the garment a player wears in competition as a sweater rather than a jersey.

Re: Bridget Carleton Named To Canada’s Junior National Team

She started against Mexico, an 84-51 win for Canada. Bridget played a total of 30 minutes - the most of any player on the team - and got one foul. She was 4-8 from the field, including 2-5 outside the arc. She also pulled down 5 rebounds, all at the defensive end. She had 1 turnover and 3 assists. So, not a bad outing for an underaged player.

Against USA in a 30 point loss Bridget had 19 pts (5-7 total, 4-6 from 3, 5-6 FT) 2 reb and 3 blocked shots in about 22 min.

I don't know if this was posted before, but Carleton is ranked as high as the number 9 best player in the International pool of players coming into the NCAA this year. The article is months old but nice to note.

Bridget Carleton of Chatam, Ont., has shown herself to be one of the country’s brightest young stars. After signing with Iowa State in November, the four-star wing played some of the best basketball that we’ve seen her play to date in this setting. The No. 9 ranked prospect in the International ELITE 25, Carleton’s length and versatility allowed her to make plays on the perimeter on both ends of the hardwood.
