If it's just one vote per coach, you're probably right.

    22. Marcus Foster, G, Kansas State. Perhaps the best returning freshman in the country. Averaged 15.4 ppg and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers

Just out of necessity. Like last years award had three PGs on it (Kane, Smart, Staten).

New Comer of the Year is a Cyclone award sorry.

The only reason another person MAY have a chance this year, is if he is somewhat close in production levels as our guys. Since we have 3 guys that may all vie for the award, the cyclone votes get somewhat split up, letting someone else win for once.

Before I get flamed, hear me out.

The last 3 years, it was pretty cut and dry who our best newcomer was and they went on to win the award for the big 12. Royce, Clyburn, and Kane. Next year, fans and media cannot agree who our best newcomer will be. I bet if I took a poll, it would be split 3 ways with the highest being in the 40% and the lowest being in the 20s. In fact I may start a new poll for fun to find out.

Somebody mentioned the name earlier. I thought he was somebody on your hoops team. Doesn't matter. My fault.

I don't necessarily think it's fair to consider the award an Iowa State player's to lose every year, but I do have trouble believing that all three of our guys will lose it to a guard from Maine that we actually passed on after his visit.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. This is why pundits seldom get it right in preseason. That's what we're doing here. One guy had 4 ISU players on the all-league teams.

For the record, I think that guy was jesting.

We'll see though! I think the Big 12 will be the consensus best conference this year, since the B1G looks down. ACC might give us a run for our money, but I don't see it.

Anyone who is discrediting Foster at KSU apparently did not watch him play last year. I'm sure Edwards will be a good player for KSU, but Fred has a proven track record w/ incoming transfers and the ones we have coming in this year are all very talented.

Also don't forget about Mickelson for KU. I doubt he will win newcomer of the year, but he is one to keep an eye on

Well maybe this explains why KSU is so bad
