NFL Sunday Ticket now available as standalone...no DirecTV needed!

Finally...no need to deal with DirecTV to get the package.

Just saw that too! Unfortunately it doesn't look like Roku scored the feed.

Do I pay to watch on a tablet or continue to drink myself blind at the bar for 17 weeks....

$50 will get you NFL Redzone. That's all I need.

$199.99 for the lowest tier plan? Hopefully that's for the entire season.

I'm pretty sure it is. Just cancelled mine and that was the pitch.

I wish they would come out with an ala carte plan, and not entirely sure why they can't?

I'm a Steelers fan - and them alone. Don't generally care to watch all 16 games any given Sunday. So the full season is kind of a waste of money for me. Particularly when Pittsburgh scores at least 1 or 2 Monday nights, another 1 or 2 Sunday nights, perhaps a Thursday and then maybe another 50% of their regular games get picked up. So DTV is asking me to fork over $200 for maybe 8 games? And there's the inevitable few I won't see for other reasons. It's a bit much.

But if they offered a "One team, $99" type thing - I could probably stomach that. (or at least get it past my wife)

And I'd think it may reduce full season packages a bit, but I'd think that would be more than offset by people who are just team fans and not NFL junkies.

Score! Honestly, not because I care about the Sunday Ticket, but correct me if I'm wrong...NBA and MLB also have direct to consumer video subscriptions (abeit, both have the old 'out of market' limitations) and now NFL...hopefully blazing the trail down the path of something like a cyclones.tv where every game is on it. Cut out the cable companies. If live sports gets unhitched from cable...cable's dead, I think.

So with Dish having the LHN and the SEC network, is directv going to lose their status as the top option for sports fans now? That's what they've been able to hang their hats on for some time.

Re: NFL Sunday Ticket now available as standalone...no DirecTV needed!

Seems kind of bogus that it costs $40 more just to get the same service on a game console instead of a tablet or computer. I guess they think they can charge a premium since people may view a game console as the most desirable option (since it's already hooked up to your TV and everything).

$200 or $240 is still too much for me, but I'm glad that these types of services are becoming available without the need to subscribe to a provider. I wish HBO could do this, too.

I'm trying to figure out why it's 199 if you're not a subscriber, but 240 if you are? (if I'm reading that right).

    Seems backwards.

No, the reference to apple products is only because the story is linked form an apple focused site.

I believe the first year I got DTV (2 yrs ago??) it was actually $299. I got it free with the signup deal they run every summer so didn't really pay close attention - someone correct me if I'm wrong.

But given it dropped 33% - one has to wonder about the subscription #'s.

No, the original link was a bit misleading.

The nflsundayticket.tv link has the full list of compatible devices, which includes Android phones and tablets, XBox One and 360, and PS3 & 4.

Re: NFL Sunday Ticket now available as standalone...no DirecTV needed!

I was able to stream this last year because I bought the anniversary package of Madden 25. It was awesome to watch RedZone along-side the local game. There's no way I'm paying over $300 to just watch the RedZone channel this year. That's insane. I'm a Bears fan, so I already get the games I want in HD on the local channels.
