From the sweet 16 on, no tourney locations will be south of North Carolina. The Final 4 will only be played in the Midwest or East Coast.

For MBB though I've only ever heard it played after big wins. And in that scenario it actually serves a purpose in calming everybody down after the big court rush. I don't think there's as much of a valid argument against how it's used in Hilton as there is at Jack Trice.

You might want to go to a game now. It's, frankly, impressive.

What does tourney success have to do with the fact that Nebraska fans are amped up to have a new, beautiful arena and a new coach that is bringing much better basketball to the program? Nebraska has had some huge, court storm-worthy home wins over big teams in the last 2/3 years. I get the natural desire to bag on the neighbors to your west but you're making an issue out of nothing. they grabbed a stock photo of a court storming from last year and stuck it in the article. There likely wasn't more than five seconds of thought put into it. Let it go.

If Miles stays, the Nebraska NCAA streak will end.

EVERY school plays it. It's an easy one for a band to play and fans instantly recognize it and sing along. It's Neil Diamond. Dorky white people love Neil Diamond. White people hear that song and sing like dorks. Black people (which includes the author of the article) hear that song and look around and say "what a bunch of dorky white people." I can see why he has no interest in hearing it any more. No biggie. I forever tie it to the Boston Red Sox and their curse-busting World Series win so it just feels like a rip off when I hear it at other sporting events. Plus I am not a Neil Diamond fan so it doesn't do anything for me, either.

Agreed. He's an excellent coach and is getting better at luring recruits and transfers to Nebraska. It will help when Creighton disappears from the national radar this year.

Probably next year. The core of that team is coming back and might be good enough to win a NCAA game. The thing is those fans won't stick around for a bad year.

Well, yeah. It's part of why we sit up above (that and the price). I stand up quite a bit, but certainly not for an entire game...the old back just can't handle it any more.

I will tell you this, though...I will be focused on the game, I will be hollering my fool head off, and I WON'T be face down in my smart phone, even if I AM sitting...

Keep the students down front, loud & proud! And I agree with the idea that bottom level seats that go empty game after game should be passed on to students first, other fans second. The bottom circle should always be full.

Signed, one of the resident old folks. :)

Sometimes I think you're not really an Iowa State fan, but really just an un-fan of every other school in existence. I've never been to their stadium but it looked pretty cool on tv.

I like this from the fashion column:

"If your team colors are blue and white, wear blue and white. If your team colors are brown and white, well, tough luck, Lehigh, you've got to look like UPS drivers. Suck it up and blame your university's forefathers."
