Golden St never offered Thompson, but I think the Wiggins deal is better any way. David Lee is vastly overpaid, Klay is going to be a free agent after this year and wants a max or near max deal. You make that trade and you're locking yourself into 35-45 wins a year and a first round loss at best. With the Wiggins deal, they have a super young, super athletic core group in Wiggins, Levine, Dieng now. Tank this year and draft one of the good bigs or Mundilay and you could have a real exciting team in the next few years.

Although Minnesota is also a terrible place to play in the NBA, give me Sacramento as the place where careers go to die. At least Minnesota can get a guy like Kevin Garnett and Kevin Love every once in a while.

I thought it was pretty much a win/win situation. The Cavs added the ideal big man to play alongside Lebron, and Minnesota might lose sixty games next season but at least they'll be fun as hell to watch with all those high flying athletes.

For Kevin Love, it was the best possible landing spot. I like his game, but Minnesota was never going anywhere if he was their best player. He's not a franchise guy. But can a team win a championship with him as the second or third best player? Hell yeah.

LOL. So now the Wolves are getting Wiggins, Bennett, AND Thaddeus Young! Quite the haul for a guy that was leaving next year anyway...

Thad Young isn't directly involved in that trade. Sounds like Schved, Mbah a Moute, and a 1st rounder for Young. Still awesome, but doesn't change the Cavs trade.

I stopped reading when the article called Anthony Bennett a phenom.

Re: Kevin Love Trade Scenario (Poll)

TWolves got a great deal. Even if Bennett turns out to be a guy coming off the bench, I would say this trade is still a success. The #1 pick and possible star in Wiggins, Bennett, then Thad Young who is 26 and averaged 18 and 6. He isn't K Love, but the Timberwolves got this all from a guy who stated he would not resign no matter what. I like the deal.

Also, the Wolves had a good draft this year. LaVine is young and has a lot of potential, which I think GRIII might be the steal of the draft. In 3 years we will know how good this trade was.

Getting Wiggins alone makes this a good trade. I don't get the Thad Young trade at all. This is the perfect season for the T'Wolves to play all their young guys, lose a lot of games and get another real high pick and follow an OKC type rebuilding plan. Young won't get you into the playoffs but he will hurt your draft odds, but this is one of the problems with having your coach also be your GM.

60 losses might be a slight exaggeration, but I'd be shocked if they win more than 30. I like all the young talent but the key word there is YOUNG. Their smart play would be to tank like crazy and play the young guys.

Re: Kevin Love Trade Scenario (Poll)

And this is why Cleveland was smart not to play hardball with Minnesota and try to get a deal done without including Wiggins. The notion that some people in this thread had that Cleveland was just bidding against themselves was completely wrong. There was no way a Waiters-Bennett-mid-late 1st round draft picks deal was ever going to get it done for Love.

With the aquizition of Young I don't think completely tanking is in the Twolves minds right now.

No, but it should be. All Thad Young does for them is maybe elevate them from terrible to bad. And all that does is lessen their chances to get a top five lottery pick next year.

Wolves are working hard to get to that mid level mediocre level nobody ever wants to be in. Of course.
