With or without Irving and Coe, our secondary and Luke Knott are going to end up doing a bulk of the tackling anyways.

Yea, I don't think we were going to win anymore games with them. Maybe 1 more. Who cares if we could have been 4-8 as opposed to 3-9. Big whoopie.

True, that's usually how football works. Very rarely does a DL lead the team in tackles.

There would be one Saturday in which I'd care and that's enough for me.

What will happen is that people will skip straight to "wondering" whether Shane Burnham should be fired.

Appears Coe is headed to Akron.

If they could follow the rules and stay out of trouble we would not need this thread. The best either can hope for is to be the classic example of how to NOT exist in a Paul Rhoads football program. In the years to come CPR can point to Coe & Irving (who by then will be reduced to panhandling and living under s bridge) as how to NOT conduct yourself to be successful.

“After [Saturday], and talking with Zeb [Noland] and the other players from all over the U.S. who decided to come here to Iowa State because of the coaches and the town and how it feels like home, it makes me wanna be a part of that right now,” Chandler said. “[It] makes me wanna be a Cyclone right now, because it feels like home and with this coaching staff and future for this team, who wouldn't wanna be a part of it?”

The problem with that is Coe simply isn't very good. He's not a guy that's going to make enough of a difference to help increase the win total. He's never shown anything on the field that makes him worth overlooking his past issues.

Sounds like you were watching a different late season Coe than I was.

Simply incorrect. Would be our best defensive player next year. Top 2 with Tribune at least.

I'm pretty sure Irving was expelled from Iowa State due to his whole VEISHEA incident....

To be fair, Coe was not kicked off for any criminal activity. He was dismissed for missing meetings, and all-around irresponsibility/laziness.

    Re: David Irving

If Coe would have had the drive and motivation of a player like, say, Jake Knott, he would be an absolute nightmare for O-Lines and QBs. He'd be a first round draft pick. High 2nd round at worst. Its really a shame.
