Especially after playing in a team that led the nation in assists last year. Hope he gets a shot in the summer league from a different team, otherwise I'll have to say his chances are slim to none to make a roster.
Because it's summer league. They aren't trying to win; that's not even the POINT of summer league. It's for new/young players to work on their game and for team execs to evaluate individuals. I don't think by any means that this closes any doors for Kane. NBA teams aren't dumb enough to think that summer league is the be-all, end-all of evaluations. If a team thinks that Kane can fill a need they will bring him in if his agent is out there working for him. NBA teams have 10 day contracts, etc... that can be used to give guys chances to prove themselves in real basketball scenarios once preseason gets going. They can also just bring him in and work him out with the team. He's got more than another game or two to prove his mettle.

Yeah, it's SUMMER LEAGUE, and not rigorously structured, but the teams are still trying to do some player evaluation and development, and looking to see how those players might fit on the NBA team. They need at least a little structure for that. That's why assistants from the NBA team's coaching staff are often involved in coaching the summer league teams.

From the little I've seen, the Lakers look rather disorganized compared to some of the other teams, with the predominate philosophy being to let the draft picks hoist up shots. IMO, that would be somewhat different if a coaching staff were in place.

It's like a double edged sword. If he wants to make a splash, he'd have to play more Me Ball like at Marshall, but the only reason he got the opportunity in the first place was because he got rid of that mindset and played Hoiball at ISU.

The first round picks for every team are hoisting shots at big rates. It's what is expected as teams try to get a glimpse of the young players that are going to have guaranteed contracts. Getting shots for undrafted free agents is much lower on their list. This isn't a coachless Lakers thing; all the draftees are chucking up 8-15 shots a game.

Is Ejim still playing for the Spurs SL team? The roster on the SL app isn't showing him like it usually does

This situation just got interesting... Now they're down to Nash, Lin, Clarkson, and Kane.

Hopefully this gives DK a few more minutes, and a chance to actually get the ball in his hands. Selfishball is lame.

No. Thats not what I said (or at least out of context). I said it he was versatile enough to play some at a few spots if needed.
Considering they had him playing the the 3 with two other point guards and that was the subject of the post I was commenting on it us obvious they were testing him at it. Seems he isnt fairing well at the 2 or the 3 so far. Hope he doesnt let it get to his head and toughens through it. I think he is talented enough.

    Re: DeAndre Kane - L.A.

I think Clarkson gets the nod at 3rd string as he's younger and is playing better with the SL team. Hope I'm wrong. If the Lakers didn't get Lin then I could see Kane.
