While I do agree with your statement and I think the majority of it is due to the increased quality of ISU players like you said, I also don't think we can deny that a portion of it is somewhat due to the quality of the league being down some too over the past few years. Back when we struggled more, we also struggled more against the likes of better Drake players than there are now, combined with the likes of individuals such as the Korvers, Harrison Barnes, Eric Crawford (former UNI player) and Doug McDermotts (I think he played) of the world. I just don't think we've had many of those in a while pariticipating. Shoot, I'm not sure I can name more than a couple players names playing this year not on the ISU team.

It's clear that a game will be a failure if we win by less than 185.
If that happens in any of our games this season, it seems fair to question both Fred's ability and his allegiance to Iowa State University.

Cyrob, you are all wet on 250 points. Hell, without Naing, Long and Nader the guys scored over 325 points last night. With them, it will be over 400 easy.

    Mark it down.

I can almost guarantee the first time we fail to beat a directional school by 50, someone (probably multiple someones) on here will be worried/angry/pessimistic about it.

If I recall correctly, Barnes was drafted but never played (or if he did it was maybe one or two games). I don't ever remember Mcdermott playing.

As I recall Bubu really tore up the CCL the year before all of his legal problems. I also recall that Fred thought Bubu would be a contributor. Not saying the Dozer will be great, but everyone on Fred's teams needs to at least be a threat to score when they get a good shot. A little offense from him, even if it is the CCL, is good.

The only answer is to beat them all by triple digits or more.

Re: 7-9-14 CCL Recaps: Custer drops 52

Hey guys, I'm not naive enough to think Custer will be scoring 50+ in Big XII...but to echo what others have posted, if you look at the performance of the ISU players its pretty obvious that they are all really skilled. Combine that with all the accolades Custer has gotten over the years and I think you can make a pretty solid argument that the CCL just confirms the talent Fred saw when recruiting him.

So call me crazy, say I'm carried away or whatever - I don't care. I will bet any dollar amount that Custer will be similar to Jacy Holloway for ISU when all is said and done.

I think from a productivity perspective Custer will put up better numbers than Jacy did over his career.

But Jacy was about winning. If Custer can have similar success to Holloway in the win/loss category that works for me.

I remember Tim Floyd trying to recruit over Holloway every year. And every year he beat out all the new guys and was the starting PG again. Tough player.

What has been proven as faily solid takeaways is that if someone has a hard time producing in the CCL, they are more than likely going to have a hard time producing in the Big 12. There are a few exceptions though even to that like Hogue, who was good but not great last year in the CCL. Nevertheless, he still showed optimistics hints of what he could be, which I don't remember Eric McKnight ever showing. What I'm saying is there is no certainties with the CCL, but there are solid trends to look for.
I don't think Dodie Dunson ever played in the CCL. He was actually a decent freshman, but any semblance of talent on McDermott's squads really stood out.

Custer was not a big scorer in high school because his team didn't need him to be. At the least, this shows he has the ability to put the ball in the hoop at a high rate. I'm excited to have him and Morris in the same backcourt.

I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others.

the 15/16 team may challenge the 12/13 team shooting the 3. Add Cooke to this year's shooters long, niang, Thomas, and Custer. Tsalmpouris looks like he can shoot it too but too early to really know. I'm sure I'm missing someone else who can shoot I on that roster.

Oh it will absolutely happen. There were still peopling calling out the team and players like Ejim all the way through our final game at Hilton. Some of the posters on this board are going to complain no matter how good the times are in basketball.

Most people on this board could score double digits in the CCL..

Well maybe not ToCo, but everyone else.
