Re: Lebron James to opt out of contract

I would be STUNNED if James leaves Miami. Of course that is all predicated on the assumption that Wade opts out. If he doesn't.. then things get really interesting. Until then, it doesn't really matter that James opted out.

Re: Lebron James to opt out of contract

Maybe he is going to retire because he finally realized he will never be as good as Jordan.

25th ranked teams get beat down on the road all the time against top 10 teams. Sucks that it happened but it doesn't change that we are somewhere between the 2nd and 6th best team in the conference. -PCHawk

He could probably be better at baseball than Jordan.

Had a buddy successfully convince me that after the finals, Lebron should become the GK for the US team.

Hoping he goes elsewhere. Getting sick of the Big 3 thing.

If he leaves, I think the Miami "fans" booing the team multiple times in the finals will have a lot to do with it.

I think he should go to the clippers. Him cp3 Blake and Jordan would be unstoppable.

LeBron would be a great fit on the Clippers...but can they afford him?

If the Big 3 are willing to cooperate to make this thing work, they will all be back.
The Spurs made the Heat second team look like chumps. How will the Heat fix that? Bird is leaving. Oldman Oden to the rescue?

It is a tricky thing to do. They can make it work, but it requires gutting nearly the entire team. Give me 5 minutes and I can try and work the numbers.

So if they gutted the team, dumping everything for non-guaranteed contracts/future picks. Whatever it takes. Including trading DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, Jared Dudley and Matt Barnes and players opting out. Leaves them with:
    Chris Paul - $20,068,563
    Blake Griffin - $17,674,613
    J.J. Redick - $6,792,500
    TOTAL - 44,535,676

The result of all of that is $14,098,300 in usable cap space. That is what they can use to sign LeBron.

If they wanted to keep Griffin, Paul and Jordan (get rid of Redick), they have less than $10mil in cap space to sign LeBron.
