    Re: *** Official 2014 NBA Off-Season Thread ***

From what I've read about Mirotic, he's supposed to be every bit as bad on defense as he is talented on offense. We'll see how Thibs handles a rotation that now features Gasol, Mirotic, Dunleavy, and McDermott. I imagine the Bulls will fall off some on the defensive end, but they definitely needed to do something to improve on the offensive end and McDermott, Gasol and Mirotic should help in that aspect.

They still have the core of their defense though. Noah, Gibson and Butler are all top level defenders. And Rose and Hinrich are quality defenders as well. Removing Boozer from the starting lineup and replacing him with Gasol is basically a push on defense. Dunleavy was on the team last year and the Bulls still had a top defense. I don't know much about Mirotic's defense, but he is a big body, and has supposedly improved his defense over the last couple years. And we will have to wait and see Doug McDermott's role on this team.

How is Rose recovering? Any indication that his head will be ready to go right away this time around?

He is supposed to play for Team USA this offseason, so hopefully he can use that time to get physically and mentally ready.

That is interesting. At this point I would probably take Kyrie and CP3 over Rose, at least in a national team aspect.

I think CP3 is sitting out this summer to give other guys experience. Kyrie, Damian Lillard, Steph Curry are among the PGs in training camp. I think there are about 18-20 people in camp, but only 12 will make the final roster.

Gotcha, that makes sense then, especially if it's not the final roster yet.

I think it's wait and see with Rose. During his MVP year the Bulls were better defensively with him off the floor, than on. That Noah-Gibson-Butler-Hinrich lineup was brutal offensively in the playoffs last year, so giving up a little defensively to improve the offensive side is something they needed to do.

Yeah, they definitely needed offense this off season. (And I wish they added some more at the SF/SG position) I am just saying the Bulls didn't lose any of their defenders, so the only reason they would be worse on defense is because of minutes played by other players. They still have the capability to put out a great defensive lineup.

If CLE gives Wiggins, it's over. MIN just wants to force CLE to give another pick. Hopefully CLE just waits it out and stands pat but I doubt they will.

It's a interesting play by the bulls if a division rival wants love make an offer to making Cleve. have to give up more. I think Wiggins is overrated. He fed off the attention teams had to pay to Embiid. Wiggins final NCAA game he had 4 points on 1-6 shooting in 34 minutes.

The NBA is a whole different animal. He would absolutely ball out on a team with LeBron and Kyrie. His shooting form is perfect too, which projects him to be able to improve his percentages very easily.

From the move the Cavs just made, maybe MIN asked for another 1st rounder and CLE offered to try to take on a contract instead for them.

Minnesota is absolutely working Cleveland in this negotiation. First they get Wiggins and Bennett plus a pick as an initial offer, then they want another pick, then they want to unload contracts.

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 57s

Minnesota's been determined to unload Kevin Martin and JJ Barea in a Love deal -- no easy task for Cavs to make work without a third team.

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 3m

This is the smaller deal Cavaliers have been pursuing in recent days to try and roll into the larger scope deal with Minnesota.

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 5m

In Murphy, Lucas and Thomas, Cavs get three non-guaranteed contracts to facilitate trades -- or a trade. Another step toward Kevin Love.

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 11m

Utah's trading John Lucas, Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy to Cleveland for Carrick Felix, future 2nd and $1M, sources tell Yahoo.

    http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/...llas-mavericks

An underrated offseason for the Mavs continues. Nelson gives them a little bit of insurance at PG behind Devin Harris if the Raymond Felton experiment doesn't pan out. If I was a Mavs fan I'd be a little nervous about putting any defensive improvement on the shoulders of the creaky Tyson Chandler, but on paper they look like a better team than they did as an eight seed last season.
