Please tell me you've been recording tonight Thompson. SDW had a nasty dunk near the end of regulation too.

Who is #41 for cooke's team? He's the one that got them back in it.

I was there and got some good video! Got the Cooke three and the SDW dunk. I'll have them posted on YouTube on Tuesday. (If you can't wait go to http://instagram.com/ISUCyclonesMBB for video)

    Re: CCL Tonight

Nice job with the editing, must have taken some time to do it. Thanks for sharing. Things I noted:

    1. We have three excellent ball handlers at the PG position: Morris, Custer, and Cooke. Cooke's cross-over going left is a killer, a move I noticed on previous clips. Encouraged by his assist totals. (Yes, it is the CCL.) I think he will play some PG in the future.

    2. SDW looks much more under control. His athleticism is evident and he looks much stronger. Also looks like he is going up much straighter on his jumper. (Not sure if his shooting % is higher than in the past, but I would guess that it is.)

    3. Really liked McKay quick pass to the low post. Shows good court awareness, timing, and touch. Some long, long arms on the guy. Runs really well for a big guy, as do Hogue and Edozie. Should lead to some easy buckets as they can beat their defenders down court. Haven't seen much of the new Georges but he may also be able to beat his man downcourt with his new body.

    4. Thomas looks like he is driving a bit better than in the past. Like his turn around jumper which I haven't seen from him before. Still trying that behind-the-back dribble to his left, which was not effective in games last year.

There was only one glimpse of it in the instagram video, but it looks like Thomas' shooting motion is quicker. It seemed to me that last year Thomas took just a fraction too long setting his feet and actually going up with his shot, and that seemed to be how defenders could key in for some blocks when the ball was released. I think Thomas' motion is fine, but if he can just execute quicker then he is going to be deadly from outside.

From the story I read last year from a naysayer, the Grinnell coach installed that crazy offense, and found a star in Jack Taylor. For scheduling, the coach then duped schools like small bible colleges and other NAIA teams to come in and get slaughtered---in order to create this mystifying aura and amazing style of basketball---so coach could write a book about it! Outside media were too lazy to research the competition, so the 150-110 point games seemed out of this world

    All a big ruse.

Kind of like K-State fb marshmellow non-conference scheduling in the 1990's that padded their overall record. It worked.

I thought the grinnell style was in effect prior to jack Taylor going there. I don't think the coach changed philosophy just for Taylor.

All I know is that I showed up last week looking forward to seeing something special in Jack Taylor and saw someone who pretty much reminded me of myself (a few years younger) . . . if you didn't know who had the record, there would have been at least 20 guys you would have guessed before him.

I'm giving him an out because he had an injury earlier in the summer. I must have just seen him on the wrong night.

The kid did have heart though, I'll give him that. He hustled and tried getting every loose ball. Just not as athletic as a lot of the other guys.

Can ISU try this marshmallow football schedule thing you speak of? When it comes to football I just want to win some.
