ISU MBB team = South Korea World Cup team?

So says this guy who is "translating the World Cup into American."

    http://theunlikelyfan.blogspot.com/2...world-cup.html

Will they win? No, definitely not. Probably not ever. but the fans donít care, because right now they canít believe their luck: the team is being coached by their most beloved player ever. Just like the teams he graced as a younger man, the favorite son has this team playing the right way. Unflappably. Relentlessly. No matter how overmatched they seem to be.

Other than the "not winning ever" part, I actually liked it

I thought that the article was fun with some interesting connections.

Re: ISU MBB team = South Korea World Cup team?

I hope not based on outcome of games. You might be able to compare it to the team CFH's first season or just some of the background on favorite player coming back to coach, never winning etc., but I don't know if I see much similarities with the teams now. South Korea is one of the worst ranked teams in the field this year and they can't seem to find a way to finish. They seem to have been on a consistent decline since their 2002 run when they hosted. Korea's team chemistry is pretty poor and there seems to be quite a bit of miscommunication in their play.

Maybe this opens up a pipeline to the rich South Korea bball recruiting market. ;)

Iowa = New Zealand. Lost their play-in game.
