Re: Will LeBron James play for Miami next year?

Just a question, that may have been posed already in this thread, but would LeBron going back to Cleveland forgive most of the bad feelings toward him? (I don't mean in Cleveland, I mean around the country) I think it would help his image.

James signs with the Knicks, prompting Carmelo to stay put. Knicks go hard after Monroe too.

The Heat re-sign Wade and Bosh, and go after a veteran free agent (Randolph? Deng?) to try to recreate some of the Big 3 mojo. Probably still end up in the lottery.

    Duncan retires

Love okays a trade to Golden State for a package including Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut.
0-1 so far. Duncan exercised his player option today. And LeBron to the Knicks made me laugh. He's too smart to hitch his wagon to James Dolan.

Re: Will LeBron James play for Miami next year?

I'm actually kind of hoping LeBron opts out of his contract and signs with the Bulls.... because Bulls fans have been absolutely the most anti-LeBron since "The Decision" (and not because of "The Decision" itself, but because he didn't say he was "taking his talents to the Windy City" - and I have friends that have admitted this to me) and I'm dying to see exactly what kind of reaction and/or backtracking that would occur with this. Do they still hate him? Does he become vice-GOAT (next to Jordan)? Do they still hate him, post memes on Facebook and Twitter, and post championship pictures of the Spurs when they eliminate the Bulls in the Finals (a friend of mine said it was a great day to be a Bulls fan when the Heat lost the Finals and then proceeded to fill his Facebook account with Spurs championship pictures - WTF?).

It's just all too intriguing for me. I want to see it happen.

Does he become vice-GOAT (next to Jordan)? Hell no

Thank god it will never happen. That dude needs to just stick with a team. If he goes anywhere other than Cleveland or Miami, I think his legacy takes a hit.

Lebron going to the Bulls would be extremely awkward.

I was disappointed in 2010 after he went to Miami. But not just because of him going to Miami. The Bulls missed out on Wade, Bosh and James. And they were pursuing all 3. They then settle for a large contract for Boozer, which didn't look too bad at the time but wasn't the home run signing they wanted and also meant they'd miss on Carmelo the next off season (which was actually what I really wanted back then) All in all it was rough off season for Chicago, because they missed on their top three targets, and all to one team.

I would love for LeBron to come to Chicago. He is the best player in the league. It would stick it to Miami, whom the Bulls have developed a rivalry with. And it would result in easily being the favorite team to win it all. Of course, it isn't happening.

Lebron took the first step in the process today by opting out of his contract:

He gone. Sadly he's probably only opting out as a threat to Riley to improve the players around him. You know, buy a team, just like the Spurs didn't do to win their championship.

Remember, you're unique. Just like everyone else.

Until further notice, the Big 12 tournament is best. There's an experience here. Not just the teams -- the feel, the vibe, the establishments. Iowa State not only won the pregame -- filling the nearby Power & Light District -- it won the whole damn scene.

Yeah, but all three are going to re-sign with the Heat at a discount. Wade and Bosh will sign a longer term deal worth less annually, but more over the life of the contract, and LeBron will do something similar, but with another opt out in 2016 or similar. If they don't the Heat can't sign anyone major to help.

You do know that all three of the Spurs big name players -- Duncan, Parker, Ginobili (Kawhi is cheap, but on rookie contract) -- all get paid less than their market value on the spurs, because they take a discount to stay on the Spurs and to benefit the team. That is why the Spurs can retain their players and pursue the occasional free agents.

If LeBron is opting out so Miami can improve, it is an intelligent decision on his part.

It would show that Lebron has a set of *****. Jordan has been a blessing and a curse. Blessing in that he led bulls to 6 titles. Curse in that because of jordan's shadow we haven't had a major fa sign since he left is because no one has the cojones to come to Chicago and be the man in Mj's town. Looks like maybe melo could be that guy, but if Lebron wants a piece of mj legacy playing and winning in mj's town would be the way to do it.

Re: Will LeBron James play for Miami next year?

I'd like to see LeBron end up in Cleveland. First of all, they have the makings of a quality squad without LeBron anyway, so the team would definitely be very strong with him. But it's not the same as teaming up with Wade and Bosh (which was always a big reason for the hate; people generally don't like to see superstars team up like that through FA). So I could definitely root for him in Cleveland. Plus, if he comes back and delivers even one championship to Cleveland, his legacy is safe, IMO.
